What You Will Do Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the strategic risk management framework for the company's capital project portfolio. Provides enterprise-wide oversight of project risk governance, assurance processes, internal controls, and mitigation strategies across major capital investments. Serves as the primary advisor to executive leadership on project risk exposure, emerging risks, opportunities, and portfolio-wide risk trends that may influence business objectives, capital allocation decisions, schedule performance, operational readiness, and overall project value realization. Develop and direct the enterprise capital project risk management program, establishing the strategies, governance frameworks, methodologies, standards, and performance metrics necessary to support successful project execution and achievement of business objectives. Provide enterprise-wide leadership and oversight of risk management across the capital project portfolio, ensuring risks are proactively identified, evaluated, mitigated, monitored, and escalated in accordance with established governance processes. Design, implement, and oversee risk control and assurance frameworks that drive consistency, accountability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with corporate governance and enterprise risk management requirements. Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, providing guidance on significant project risks, emerging threats, mitigation approaches, risk appetite considerations, and capital investment decisions. Lead portfolio-level risk assessments and quantitative risk analyses, delivering independent evaluations of project readiness, contingency adequacy, execution strategies, funding requirements, and investment decisions. Establish and maintain executive-level risk reporting, dashboards, and analytical tools that provide timely visibility into risk exposure, emerging trends, mitigation effectiveness, and overall portfolio performance. Act as the senior authority for capital project risk management, translating complex technical, operational, commercial, and financial risks into actionable business insights for executive leadership and governance bodies. Advance organizational risk management capability and maturity through the development of standards, training programs, coaching initiatives, best practices, and a strong risk-aware culture. Lead and develop a high-performing team of risk management professionals, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities, optimal resource utilization, and successful execution of strategic objectives. Partner with executive, operational, engineering, finance, procurement, legal, and project leadership teams to promote risk-informed decision-making and enhance project performance, value realization, and operational readiness across the capital portfolio. What You Bring To Freeport Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related degree and fifteen (15) years’ experience in construction management, and at least ten (10) years’ experience with risk management OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related degree and thirteen (13) years’ experience in construction management, and at least ten (10) years’ experience with risk management. Leadership ability and strong management capability Proven experience implementing Risk Management across multiple large-scale capital projects Strong knowledge of industrial project lifecycles and associated risks Experience with Enablon software tool Experience with cost control including project estimating, forecasting and cost management including reporting Experience with heavy industrial capital projects Highly effective, confident and persuasive communication skills Analytical and strategic thinking with business acumen Able to work across organizational boundaries and influence at all levels Action oriented with hands on approach to problem-solving Preferred Qualifications Certification in risk management (e.g IRM, CRM, PMI-RMP) What We Offer You Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
