Position Overview The position of Director – Community Impact is critical for the company’s ability to lead the strategy, governance, operations, and continued evolution of the Burlington Stores Foundation and Burlington’s community-impact programs. This position is responsible for developing and executing the strategic direction for the Burlington Stores Foundation and the company’s community-related programs and initiatives. This role requires a well-balanced background in corporate philanthropy, foundation governance, grantmaking, community partnerships, volunteerism, financial stewardship, and impact measurement. The Director is responsible for the Foundation’s grantmaking portfolio, charitable partnerships, enterprise volunteerism, community-response initiatives, and the governance framework for local community partnerships. The role ensures these programs are strategically aligned, operationally sound, financially responsible, compliant with applicable requirements, and capable of demonstrating meaningful impact. This role partners with teams throughout the Burlington organization to improve awareness, solicit feedback, and drive participation in company-sponsored initiatives, with a focus on continuous improvement and the development of scalable programs that align with Burlington’s culture, business priorities, and community-impact strategy. This highly visible role interfaces with senior leadership, the Burlington Stores Foundation Board, and with internal and external business partners at all levels. The ability to create and deliver concise and compelling presentations, develop executive recommendations, exercise sound judgement, and lead complex work through influence is critical to this position’s success. A Day in the Life Community Impact Strategy & Enterprise Programs Develop and execute Burlington’s enterprise community-impact strategy and annual operating plan, establishing priorities, goals, and scalable programs that align with the company’s culture, business priorities, and community needs. Lead the continued evolution of Burlington’s community-impact portfolio, identifying opportunities to strengthen existing programs, develop new initiatives, and improve the reach and effectiveness of the company’s community investments. Oversee the strategic coordination of Burlington’s community-related programs and initiatives across Stores, Distribution Centers, and corporate functions, ensuring alignment, consistency, and clear governance. Lead Burlington’s approach to community-response initiatives, including the development of frameworks and recommendations for responding to emerging community needs and opportunities. Propose and maintain eenterprise standards and operating principles for community-impact programming, including decision-making, prioritization, scalability, participation, and long-term sustainability. Partner across the organization to increase awareness of Burlington’s community-impact efforts, gather stakeholder and associate feedback, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Identify emerging trends, practices, and opportunities in corporate philanthropy and community impact and translate relevant insights into recommendations for Burlington’s strategy and programs. Burlington Stores Foundation Strategy, Governance & Grantmaking Lead the strategy, governance, and operations of the Burlington Stores Foundation, ensuring alignment with Burlington’s broader community-impact strategy and applicable legal, financial, and governance requirements. Develop annual Foundation grantmaking priorities, budgets, calendars, eligibility requirements, evaluation criteria, and funding recommendations. Manage the full grant lifecycle, including nominations, applications, due diligence, review, approval, payment, reporting, and closeout. Prepare grant recommendations, meeting materials, reports, and follow-up actions for the Burlington Stores Foundation Board. Maintain Foundation policies, procedures, records, documentation, and operating controls. Partner with Legal, Finance, Tax, Internal Audit, and external advisers to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Foundation requirements. Manage the Foundation’s grants-management platform, vendors, and related administrative processes. Monitor the Foundation’s grantmaking portfolio, charitable investment, and financial activity, identifying risks, opportunities, and recommendations for future funding priorities. Community Partnerships & Enterprise Volunteerism Lead and manage Burlington’s enterprise community and nonprofit partnership process, serving as the central liaison for partnership requests across Stores, Distribution Centers, and corporate functions. Establish and maintain an enterprise framework for community and nonprofit partnerships, including intake, evaluation, approval, renewal, and exit processes. Lead Burlington’s Season of Service initiative and broader enterprise volunteerism strategy, including program design, participation goals, nonprofit partner selection, operating guidelines, communications, measurement, and continuous improvement. Partner with Stores, Distribution Centers, Field HR, Talent Acquisition, Legal, Marketing, Communications, and other functions to support consistent execution of community partnerships and volunteer initiatives. Maintain visibility into community partnerships across Burlington locations and identify opportunities to improve alignment, coordination, participation, and impact. Serve as a subject-matter expert for Burlington’s cause-marketing, charitable campaigns, and other community-facing partnership opportunities. Impact Measurement, Financial Stewardship & Program Effectiveness Develop and maintain Burlington’s community-impact measurement framework, including goals, key performance indicators, dashboards, and reporting standards. Track charitable investment, grant outcomes, volunteer participation, community-partnership activity, and other relevant measures to assess reach, effectiveness, and impact. Monitor financial performance across Foundation and community-impact programs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve stewardship and resource allocation. Evaluate the effectiveness of Burlington’s community-impact programs and initiatives and develop recommendations for continuation, expansion, redesign, or discontinuation. Benchmark Burlington’s community-impact practices against relevant peer companies, industry standards, and emerging practices to inform continuous improvement and future strategy. Executive, Board & Cross-Functional Leadership Develop concise executive communications, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership and the Burlington Stores Foundation Board regarding community-impact strategy, grantmaking activity, program performance, financial stewardship, risks, and opportunities. Serve as a strategic adviser and subject-matter expert to internal leaders on community impact, corporate philanthropy, nonprofit partnerships, volunteerism, and Foundation-related matters. Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives through influence, building alignment across Stores, Distribution Centers, Field HR, Talent Acquisition, Legal, Finance, Marketing, Communications, and other business functions. Represent Burlington, as appropriate, in meetings and discussions with nonprofit partners, community organizations, advisers, and other external stakeholders. Identify issues requiring executive or Board consideration and develop clear recommendations, decision points, and follow-up actions. You'll Come With Education : Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline. Experience: 5 or more years of progressive experience in corporate philanthropy, community impact, nonprofit management, corporate social responsibility, grantmaking, or a related field. Experience leading or administering a corporate foundation, grantmaking portfolio, charitable fund, or comparable philanthropic program. Experience managing the full grant lifecycle, including application processes, due diligence, review, payment, reporting, and compliance . Experience working with a grants management database at a company or non-profit. Experience managing charitable partnerships, volunteer programs, vendors, and cross-functional project teams. Skills and Abilities: Strong strategic thinking, leadership and collaboration skills. Exceptional time management, prioritization, organizational, and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders without direct authority. Strong relationship-management skills and the ability to serve as an effective liaison between internal business partners and external community organizations. Ability to present effectively and deliver presentations in front of diverse audiences. Ability to develop executive level presentations and present ideas/information to senior leadership in the company. Ability to lead and manage national and local community partnerships, oversee a centralized partnership intake and evaluation process, and direct the planning and execution of community programs, volunteer initiatives, and events. Proven track record of building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external partners. Strong program-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams, annual cycles, vendors, budgets, and deadlines simultaneously Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to evaluate program effectiveness, identify trends, and inform recommendations. Superior communications skills, specifically verbal, writing and organizational skills with the ability to create and edit PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets and business correspondence, etc. Solid computer skills in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. #LI-KG2 Come join our team.
