ARISO is entering an important period of transformation as it strengthens its role as a national technical authority for rail. As Director, Corporate & Operations, you will help build the organisational platform that makes that ambition possible. Reporting to the CEO, with Finance & Commercial, People Operations and IT within your portfolio, you will shape the finance, people, governance, risk and technology foundations that allow a growing national organisation to operate with confidence, pace and discipline. This is an opportunity to influence how ARISO grows: creating scalable systems, strong stewardship and a high-performing culture while supporting work that contributes to safer, more interoperable and productive rail across Australia.
What you will shape and deliver
Own ARISO’s corporate services operating model and continuous improvement agenda.
Oversee budgets, forecasts, reporting and contracts to ensure value-for-money outcomes.
Strengthen governance, risk and compliance frameworks and support Board obligations.
Lead people operations-workforce planning, capability, performance and culture.
Provide executive oversight of IT to lift efficiency, data and cyber security.
Embed clear operational policies, measures and reporting for enterprise performance.
Collaborate with the Company Secretary and CEO’s Office on effective secretariat support.
What you'll bring
You are an experienced executive or senior operations leader who enjoys building the conditions in which people and organisations can do their best work. You combine commercial and financial discipline with sound governance, practical judgement and a genuine interest in organisational performance. You can move comfortably from Board-level advice to improving systems, developing leaders and solving operational problems. Experience in rail is welcome, but what matters most is your ability to build strong corporate foundations in a complex, purpose-led environment.
Demonstrated success in a senior operational or executive leadership role.
Strong financial management-budgeting, forecasting, reporting and commercial oversight.
Governance, risk, compliance and internal control frameworks leadership.
Leading multidisciplinary teams; capability building and values-led culture.
Establishing operational policies, priorities, performance measures and reporting.
Change leadership-process improvement, systems uplift and ways of working.
Exceptional communication; confident with contemporary business systems and Microsoft 365.
Also valued: Experience in member-based, standards, regulatory, infrastructure, transport or rail environments, and familiarity with board-led governance requirements in a Board context. Also valued: Postgraduate qualifications or relevant professional memberships (e.g., governance, finance, management).
