At American Express, we know that with the right backing, people and businesses have the power to progress in incredible ways. When you join #TeamAmex, you become part of a diverse community committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences and differentiated value.
The B2B GMNS Product team is shaping the next generation of American Express B2B payments. We are building products, platforms, and partnerships that create differentiated value for suppliers while enabling a more connected, two-sided B2B payments ecosystem across buyers, suppliers, and multiple payment rails.
This is a high-visibility product leadership role at the intersection of customer experience, payments, technology, and platform strategy. The Director will define the product vision and multi-year roadmap, identify the highest-value customer and business problems to solve, and make critical prioritization and investment decisions. Working closely with Engineering, this leader will translate customer needs, market opportunities, and enterprise priorities into scalable platform capabilities that can serve multiple products and use cases.
The Director will lead and develop a team of product professionals and partner across GMNS, GCS, Engineering, Design, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and other enterprise teams. The successful candidate will combine strong product judgment with technical fluency, thrive in complexity, and bring the clarity and leadership required to turn an ambitious vision into products and capabilities at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Own the vision and strategy for the next-generation B2B supplier platform, defining a multi-year roadmap informed by customer needs, market evolution, competitive dynamics, and American Express' broader B2B strategy.
Build scalable platform capabilities across supplier onboarding, enhanced remittance, B2B pricing, APIs, and other foundational domains that can be reused across products, payment experiences, and enterprise use cases.
Lead product discovery and prioritization, identifying the most important customer and business problems to solve and translating them into product requirements, MVPs, OKRs, KPIs, and investment priorities, making strategic tradeoffs when necessary.
Lead product discovery and concept development, bringing together customer insights, market and competitive trends, end-to-end experience design, and technical feasibility to shape product direction and investment decisions
Lead cross-functional partners across GMNS, GCS, Engineering, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and other enterprise teams to move complex initiatives from idea through launch and scale.
Structure and lead team-wide processes, communications, and continuous improvement to strengthen product discipline and execution
Build and develop a high-performing product team, creating clarity of ownership, strengthening product management discipline, developing talent, and establishing effective operating mechanisms across the team.
Shape the intelligent supplier platform of the future, championing AI and GenAI across the product lifecycle while identifying opportunities to embed intelligent capabilities directly into supplier experiences, APIs, and platform services.
Challenge the status quo, introducing new approaches that improve speed, quality, customer outcomes, and the effectiveness of how the organization builds products.
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of product management experience, with demonstrated experience leading complex technology products or platforms; B2B payments or financial services experience strongly valued.
Strong technical fluency, including experience working with APIs, platform services, domain architecture, and engineering teams.
Demonstrated people leadership experience, including developing product talent and building high-performing teams.
Proven ability to translate customer problems, market opportunities, and business priorities into compelling product strategies and scalable technology capabilities.
Strong product judgment and demonstrated ability to make difficult prioritization and investment decisions in environments with competing priorities and constrained capacity.
Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives in a highly matrixed organization.
Strong customer orientation with experience using customer, market, competitive, and quantitative insights to inform product decisions.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to create clarity, build alignment, and drive decisions across technical, business, and executive audiences.
Track record of challenging established approaches and driving meaningful product, process, or organizational improvement.
Highly motivated self-starter with a sense of urgency, positive attitude, and the ability to excel in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Embodies a "team" mentality in all that you do, with a proven ability to take ownership for progressing project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or a related field; master’s degree is a plus.
Experience building B2B payments, supplier, network, marketplace, or platform products.
Experience taking new platform capabilities from concept through launch and scale.
