The Director, Financial Systems Projects leads the planning, prioritization, and delivery of finance technology initiatives and operational activities. Acting as the primary liaison between business and technical teams, the Director oversees and contributes to complex, time-sensitive projects involving Workday and other systems that support financial accounting and reporting. The role also directs project testing and validation and oversees internal controls for ongoing operations.




Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:


  • Leads the planning, prioritization, and delivery of complex, time-sensitive finance technology initiatives.
  • Oversees and contributes to Workday initiatives that support Finance and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Establishes and monitors project milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues; adjusts plans and stakeholder expectations as needed to maintain delivery.
  • Directs project testing and validation and oversees the design and effectiveness of internal controls supporting ongoing financial system operations.


Technical Knowledge and Understanding:


  • Advanced knowledge of financial system operations and finance technology platforms, with Workday experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting processes, preferably within the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of financial systems implementation, transformation, and integration
  • Ability to translate business needs into system requirements
  • Knowledge of testing and validation practices, including planning, execution, and issue resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate across business and technical teams, influence stakeholders, and communicate complex information clearly.



Experience:

  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; alternatively, a master’s degree in accounting is acceptable when paired with a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • At least 5 years of insurance accounting or reporting experience required, preferably within P&C
