About OneApp

OneApp is revolutionizing the way people find and get into housing. Our mission is to remove barriers and give all people access to housing. As OneApp continues to grow, our internal events function plays a critical role in strengthening culture, alignment, connection, and organizational momentum.

Role Overview

The Director, Internal Events will lead OneApp’s internal events function as a strategic portfolio. This role is responsible for turning organizational vision into meaningful internal experiences that strengthen culture, connection, alignment, and employee engagement.

This leader will own the annual internal events portfolio, partner closely with executive and department sponsors, lead the Events team, and ensure events are delivered with clarity, collaboration, operational discipline, and excellence. The role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking and hands-on event judgment — someone who can shape the experience, organize the details, guide stakeholders, support the team, and ensure every event is planned and delivered with confidence.

The ideal candidate is an experienced live-event and stakeholder-experience leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution. They are highly relational, organized, calm under pressure, and skilled at managing complex programs with many moving parts. They know how to create experiences that deliver meaningful value for attendees while also meeting the business and cultural objectives of the organization.

This role will not own external revenue-generating events. The focus is internal OneApp experiences, including all-staff gatherings, retreats, leadership offsites, onboarding experiences, summits, culture events, and employee engagement moments.

Why This Role Matters

OneApp’s internal events are becoming increasingly important moments for alignment, culture, leadership connection, employee engagement, and organizational momentum. As the company grows, these events can no longer rely on informal planning, unclear ownership, or individual heroics to be successful.

This role exists to lead the Events function into its next stage of maturity. The Director, Internal Events will bring the portfolio leadership, stakeholder clarity, operating discipline, and team development needed to ensure internal events are planned with intention, delivered with excellence, and scaled in a sustainable way.

This leader will help OneApp move from reactive event execution to a proactive, repeatable events operating model — one where sponsors understand decision points, attendees receive clear and timely communication, cross-functional partners know their roles, and the Events team has the structure and support needed to do excellent work.

At its best, this role strengthens more than events. It strengthens how OneApp gathers, communicates, celebrates, aligns, and builds trust across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Events Portfolio Leadership

● Own the annual internal events portfolio, including event intake, tiering, prioritization, capacity planning, and calendar visibility.

● Partner with executive leaders, department sponsors, People & Culture, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and other cross-functional partners to ensure events are aligned with company priorities.

● Lead the planning and delivery of Tier 1 and Tier 2 internal events, including all-staff events, leadership retreats, board-related internal gatherings, manager summits, onboarding experiences, and culture-building events.

● Ensure each event has a clear business purpose, stakeholder owner, attendee audience, budget direction, success criteria, and decision-making path.

● Maintain visibility across events moving through different phases at the same time, including intake, planning, approvals, readiness, execution, and closeout.

Stakeholder Management and Decision Clarity

● Serve as the primary Events partner for executive and department sponsors.

● Clarify sponsor expectations, decision rights, approval gates, and timelines at the beginning of each event.

● Lead sponsor conversations around event purpose, experience design, budget tradeoffs, location strategy, attendee experience, and readiness.

● Proactively surface risks, blockers, decision needs, and tradeoffs to sponsors and leadership.

● Protect the Events team from unnecessary rework by ensuring decisions are made at the right time, documented clearly, and managed through the event operating process.

Event Operating Model and Process Excellence

● Lead adoption and continuous improvement of OneApp’s internal events operating model, including event tiers, planning phases, approval gates, decision logs, readiness reviews, and post-event closeouts.

● Ensure each event moves through the appropriate lifecycle based on tier, complexity, audience, and business importance.

● Guide the creation and use of standard tools, including event charters, project plans, budget trackers, vendor trackers, attendee communication plans, run-of-show documents, risk registers, and closeout reports.

● Partner with the Events Project Manager to maintain Asana plans, milestones, dependencies, status updates, gate schedules, and cross-functional coordination.

● Build repeatable systems that allow OneApp to scale internal events without relying on individual heroics.

Team Leadership and Delegation

● Lead and develop the internal Events team, including project management and production/logistics roles.

● Set clear expectations, decision rights, and ownership lanes for Events team members.

● Delegate work according to role clarity, event tier, team capacity, and individual strengths.

● Coach team members toward greater ownership, accountability, and professional growth.

● Create an Events team rhythm that supports planning visibility, prioritization, workload management, risk identification, and continuous improvement.

Event Experience and Quality Control

● Ensure events are organized, inclusive, mission-aligned, and memorable.

● Provide quality oversight across the full attendee journey, including save-the-dates, travel guidance, agendas, packing information, arrival experience, onsite flow, meals, accommodations, and post-event follow-up.

● Partner with People & Culture to ensure events reflect OneApp’s culture and support employee belonging, accessibility, and engagement.

● Partner with Marketing or Communications on event branding, messaging, presentation needs, and recap materials.

● Ensure events feel polished, thoughtful, and aligned with the intended business and cultural outcomes.

Production, Logistics, and Vendor Oversight

● Provide leadership oversight for venues, vendors, travel, hotels, transportation, catering, A/V, registration, rooming lists, materials, swag, signage, and onsite execution.

● Ensure the production and logistics team has the clarity, tools, timelines, and support needed to execute assigned events successfully.

● Review and approve major logistical plans, budget risks, vendor decisions, and event-day readiness.

● Ensure event-day roles, escalation paths, command-center communication, and live decision protocols are clear.

● Travel as needed to support major internal events, site visits, readiness checks, and onsite execution.

Budget, Risk, and Closeout

● Partner with Finance to establish budget expectations, track event spend, review cost tradeoffs, and reconcile event budgets.

● Ensure budget codes, travel expectations, and attendee spending guidance are communicated clearly and early.

● Maintain visibility into financial risks, vendor commitments, contract timelines, and scope changes.

● Lead post-event evaluation, including attendee feedback, sponsor debriefs, team retrospectives, budget reconciliation, and lessons learned.

● Use post-event insights to improve future events, templates, processes, and team practices.

Qualifications

Required:

● 8+ years of experience in corporate events, internal events, live event services, employee experience, executive events, or related event leadership.

● Proven ability to lead complex in-person events with multiple stakeholders, vendors, budgets, timelines, and executive participants.

● Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to clarify expectations, manage input, guide decisions, and navigate competing priorities.

● Excellent project management instincts, with experience building timelines, managing dependencies, tracking risks, and driving work through milestones.

● Strong live-event judgment, including comfort with production details, attendee experience, vendor coordination, and onsite execution.

● Experience leading or mentoring team members, delegating work, and building clarity around roles and responsibilities.

● Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills.

● Highly organized, calm under pressure, and able to manage multiple events in different planning phases at once.

● Comfortable working with executives and senior leaders.

● Ability to travel domestically for major events, site visits, and onsite execution.

Preferred:

● Experience leading complex live events, internal company gatherings, leadership retreats, conferences, summits, onboarding experiences, culture events, or employee engagement programs.

● Experience managing high-touch stakeholder relationships, including executives, senior leaders, vendors, cross-functional partners, and event attendees.

● Experience translating a broad vision into a clear event strategy, project plan, attendee experience, and execution model.

● Experience managing multi-phase programs with detailed timelines, communication plans, budgets, vendors, and deliverables.

● Experience building or improving event planning processes, templates, systems, decision points, or operating rhythms.

● Experience working in a fast-growing organization where systems, roles, and processes are still being built.

● Experience with Asana or similar project management tools.

● Experience partnering with People & Culture, Finance, Marketing, Operations, IT/A/V, and executive sponsors.

● Background in client relations, live event services, campaign management, high-visibility programs, or complex stakeholder experience.
