Date Posted: 7/17/2026** Job Summary We’re seeking a visionary, hands-on Director of Learning Experience & Visual Design to lead the visual design strategy for professional learning, coaching, curriculum, and classroom materials that empower educators and inspire students worldwide. This role blends strategic brand leadership with exceptional design skills across print and digital platforms. You’ll partner in stewarding the FranklinCovey Education brand, personally design high-impact materials, and lead through influence—working with contractors, vendors, content, product, and platform teams to ensure materials are as compelling as they are instructionally effective. Essential Job Functions Design Strategy & Brand Stewardship Own and evolve a consistent, compelling visual brand identity for FranklinCovey Education across professional learning, curriculum, coaching, classroom materials, presentations, and digital platforms Develop practical brand guidelines and design systems (templates, components, iconography, specs) that enable scalable, on-brand creation by internal teams and external partners Maintain a high bar for layout, typography, color, hierarchy, and accessibility so materials are clear, engaging, and effective for diverse learners Hands-On Design Execution Personally design key deliverables: curriculum layouts, workbooks, facilitator guides, coaching materials, slides, PDFs, infographics, illustrations, and web assets. You will also design classroom materials such as posters, cards, kits, apparel, and branded educational products. Create comps and finished materials for high-priority projects, new design directions, and fast-turn initiatives requiring expert craft Contractor, Vendor & Production Leadership Build and direct a network of external designers, illustrators, photographers, and other creatives; scope, brief, and provide clear feedback to deliver on-brand work on time and on budget Partner with operations and production to select substrates, materials, printing methods, and finishing techniques that balance quality, durability, cost, and sustainability Oversee preflight, print quality, and vendor relationships across books, workbooks, large-format, apparel, and specialty items Project & Cross-Functional Management Own end-to-end design project management—from intake and scoping through design, revisions, production, and final delivery Manage multiple concurrent timelines and coordinate with project management teams to ensure asset organization, version control, and workflow efficiency Collaborate closely with content developers, instructional designers, product teams, platform product designers, and subject matter experts to translate learning objectives into effective visual solutions Innovation & Continuous Improvement Stay current on design trends, educational design best practices, accessibility standards, and emerging technologies (including AI) to keep materials modern and impactful Proactively improve design processes, brand consistency, and production efficiency, and foster a culture of creativity and excellence Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, fine art, marketing, education, or related field 7+ years of professional experience as a Design Director, Art Director, Senior Designer, or similar role with hands-on design execution Portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of work Preferred Skills & Experience Portfolio: Ability to demonstrate both conceptual strength and executional excellence, with experience delivering content across diverse educational or mission-driven work Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Figma, and presentation tools Proven experience building and enforcing brand systems and design guidelines across print and digital formats Deep production knowledge across books, workbooks, large-format, apparel, and promotional products; strong understanding of substrates, color management, and finishing Experience managing contractors and production vendors, and partnering with operations/production to balance creative goals with constraints Strong project management skills; ability to juggle multiple projects and stakeholders using tools like Notion, Widen, or Asana Demonstrated strength in accessibility and inclusive design (readability, legibility, color contrast, WCAG, inclusive imagery) Excellent collaboration, communication, and influence skills; able to lead without formal authority, build trust, and present confidently to senior stakeholders Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, HSA, employee stock purchasing program, 401(k), paid time off, holiday pay, and more.
