Turn bold ideas and audience insights into marketing programs that create meaningful connections between iconic brands and their partners. As Director, Marketing & Account Strategy, you’ll bring strategic thinking, creativity, and a deep understanding of client needs to integrated programs that deliver impact across platforms.
About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)
Hearst Magazines is one of the largest publishers in the world, with more than 30 brands, including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Harper’s BAZAAR, Popular Mechanics, and Delish. We reach more than 150 million people every month in the United States alone.
But we’re more than just our magazines. We engage our audience across all mediums and channels—print, digital, video, and social—with sophisticated content creation, distribution, and data capabilities. We create, package, and sell products with cutting-edge technology and proprietary platforms. Together, we are reinventing publishing for the 21st century.
Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)
- Develop partner-specific marketing strategies and integrated platforms spanning digital, print, social, custom and native content, customized experiences, and data-driven direct marketing campaigns.
- Translate strategic and creative concepts into compelling proposals, presentations, sell sheets, and other materials that clearly communicate the value of Hearst’s solutions.
- Leverage client, category, industry, audience, and marketplace insights to uncover opportunities and inform thoughtful, differentiated marketing recommendations.
- Partner with stakeholders across Hearst brands and the broader organization to lead marketing initiatives for clients, prospects, and internal audiences.
- Guide sold programs through a thoughtful handoff to post-sale teams, providing the context and materials needed to deliver against the strategy and meet or exceed client expectations.
- Champion high standards across strategy, writing, design, and execution, ensuring marketing work reflects the quality and integrity of Hearst’s brands.
- Serve as a strategic leader within the group by monitoring client needs, industry trends, competitive positioning, and emerging best practices and translating those insights into opportunities.
- Cultivate relationships with third-party organizations and vendors that can expand and strengthen Hearst’s integrated marketing capabilities.
Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)
- 5+ years of related experience in marketing, account strategy, branded content, media, advertising, or a related field, with experience spanning both strategic development and execution.
- Demonstrated ability to develop compelling integrated marketing programs across multiple channels and translate ideas into clear, persuasive narratives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking skills, with the resourcefulness to turn client and market insights into actionable solutions.
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills, including strong copywriting abilities and confidence influencing and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate change, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the curiosity, drive, and follow-through to move ideas from concept to completion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Keynote; understanding of or interest in editorial products and the youth and wellness industries is a plus.
- This role is based in New York City and requires working from the office four days per week.
Benefits (What We Offer)
