Director of Commercial Strategy & Sales Operations Apply Overview Salary Range $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 Position Type Full Time Category Life Sciences Apply Job Description The Director of Commercial Strategy & Sales Operations converts commercial priorities and client opportunities into written account plans, executable proposals and SOWs, accurate forecasts, signed agreements, and structured delivery handoffs. Reporting to the EVP, Strategy & Partnerships, this role connects Sales with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Analytics, Medical, Product, and Operations; leads commercial planning for 10+ major conferences annually; and establishes proactive executive and board reporting. Responsibilities: Partner with executive and account leaders to translate commercial priorities into written account plans, opportunity strategies, timelines, owners, and measurable outcomes; review priority account plans quarterly. Own commercial coordination from qualified discussion or verbal commitment through proposal, SOW development, approval, contracting, signature, and structured Sales-to-Operations handoff. Coordinate and document scope, deliverables, pricing, feasibility, assumptions, timelines, approvals, redlines, procurement requirements, risks, and final commitments across internal teams and clients. Lead strategic account planning covering client priorities, stakeholders, current work, growth opportunities, relationship gaps, risks, next actions, target dates, and expected commercial value. Lead commercial planning for 10+ major oncology and life sciences conferences annually, including goals, target accounts, outreach, meeting preparation, follow-up, Salesforce documentation, and results reporting. Own Salesforce process discipline, pipeline visibility, data quality, stage criteria, contracting reviews, forecasting, document governance, and SharePoint recordkeeping. Establish a proactive executive and board reporting cadence, reconcile reporting with Finance, distinguish signed, verbal, negotiation-stage, and weighted pipeline, and explain changes, risks, blockers, and decisions required. Improve commercial workflows through concise SOPs, templates, service expectations, training, responsible automation, and AI-enabled productivity tools with appropriate confidentiality, validation, and human oversight. Lead cross-functional opportunity and account reviews and coach or manage sales operations and support staff as the function grows. Success Measures: Written account plans maintained for all designated strategic accounts. Complete opportunity documentation and reduced cycle time from verbal commitment to signed agreement. Accurate forecasts, disciplined pipeline aging, and complete Salesforce records. Consistent conference preparation, follow-up, and measurable commercial outcomes. Proactive board reporting and complete, timely Sales-to-Operations handoffs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, life sciences, finance, marketing, operations, or a related field. 8+ years of progressive experience in sales operations, commercial operations, deal operations, strategic account operations, program management, or business operations. 3+ years supporting complex B2B sales in life sciences, pharmaceutical services, healthcare technology, real-world data, analytics, consulting, or another regulated environment. Hands-on experience guiding complex opportunities through proposal, SOW, contracting, signature, and delivery handoff. Advanced Salesforce experience across opportunity management, pipeline reporting, forecasting, dashboards, data quality, and process improvement. Strong executive communication, project management, analytical, prioritization, and follow-through skills. Ability to partner effectively across Sales, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and subject-matter teams. Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. Ability to travel approximately 20%–30% for major conferences, planning sessions, and selected client meetings. Must be able to travel, occasionally on short notice, and work flexible hours around conferences, client deadlines, contract closings, and executive priorities. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree such as an MBA, MHA, or MPH. Experience in oncology, real-world data/evidence, HEOR, healthcare analytics, or pharmaceutical commercialization. Familiarity with pharmaceutical MSA, SOW, procurement, vendor onboarding, and contracting processes. Experience creating strategic account plans and reporting to C-suite leaders or boards. Experience with Power BI, DocuSign, or project-management platforms. Experience with evidence generation, clinical research, or complex life sciences consulting, data, analytics, or technology-enabled services. Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions: Primarily operates in a professional office or remote-work environment and requires extended computer and video-conference work. Requires approximately 20%-30% travel, occasionally on short notice, and flexible hours around conferences, client deadlines, contract closings, and executive priorities.
