About the Position
We are seeking a Director of Commissioning to join our growing Life Science and Advanced Manufacturing design-build team. The ideal candidate possesses 10+ years of related experience. The successful candidate will manage the workload of the commissioning group, mentor, manage, and recruit staff for commissioning; provide proposal support and fee estimates for commissioning opportunities, and in a seller/doer fashion bring new work to Pond. The position requires coordination across multidisciplinary construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement standard procedures for startup and commissioning processes
- Support the design and construction team during early stages of the project to set up all Installation Work Packages, check lists, and systems to be built and documented with turnover of the project in mind
- Support the pre-construction team with estimates and schedules for the startup and commissioning phases of the project.
- Write proposals and estimates to perform startup and commissioning services to clients outside Pond’s Design-Build portfolio.
- Coordinate Pre-Startup and Startup activities with Clients, Vendors, and Contractors
- Support Pre-Startup and Startup process for systems and equipment on the jobsite and document progress toward completion.
- In coordination with Pond design and construction team, vendors, and contractors, troubleshoot systems and equipment to be turned over to clients.
- Prepare closeout documentation for projects such as O&M manuals, Spare Parts List, Drawings, Warranty documentation, etc.
- Support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) as needed and required by clients
- Support clients with FDA validation process as needed (SAT, IQ, OQ)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field required.
- Four or more years of experience with the startup of process and industrial equipment, HVAC systems, and the associated instrumentation and controls.
- Ability to read, understand, and red line design drawings and Issued For Construction (IFC) documentation. Experience supervising small to mid-sized teams desired.

- Familiarity with chillers, boilers, steam, pumps, fans, oxidizers, compressed gas storage and distribution, nitrogen, switchgear, heat exchangers, ambient air test and balance, air pressure controls, and fire protection systems.
- Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work
- Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally
- Ability to travel 25-50%
