The energy of our people, the pace at which we operate, and the thrill of making bold moves is exhilarating and addictive. We encourage our employees to face their weaknesses, to really open themselves up to new challenges and projects in a super-charged and rich learning environment. We want you to become the best version of yourself.
Join us as a Director of Data & AI - (Reporting to the CTIO)
We’re looking for an exceptional Director of Data & AI to lead Three Ireland’s enterprise Data and AI agenda. This is a high-impact leadership role with the opportunity to turn our investment in modern data platforms, analytics and AI into measurable value for our customers, our people and our business.
As our enterprise functional leader for Data and AI, you’ll set the strategy, lead the Data & AI Tribe and build the capability, governance and culture needed to make Three Ireland an AI-enabled, data-driven operator. You’ll work across the organisation, advise the Executive team and connect technology investment with our most important commercial, customer, network, finance and people priorities.
What else it involves
- Define and deliver Three Ireland’s enterprise Data and AI strategy, multi-year roadmap and investment priorities.
- Lead the Data & AI Tribe, setting its vision, outcomes, OKRs, delivery roadmap, budget and measures of value.
- Translate business priorities into a focused portfolio of data products, analytics, machine learning and AI use cases.
- Build and operate a secure, resilient and scalable enterprise data platform, including our Google Cloud and BigQuery ecosystem.
- Accelerate responsible adoption of AI across customer experience, personalisation, retention, network optimisation, revenue growth and cost efficiency.
- Establish strong data governance, quality, ownership, metadata and lineage, alongside a robust responsible AI framework.
- Partner with senior leaders across Commercial, Technology, Customer, Finance and People to embed evidence-based decision-making.
- Build enterprise capability in data literacy, self-service analytics and AI adoption.
- Develop a high-performing Data and AI organisation, including career pathways, succession plans, skills pipelines and strategic partnerships.
- Represent Three Ireland in CK Hutchison forums and across the wider Irish technology, research and education community
The skills we’re looking for
- Significant senior leadership experience across Data and AI, with a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams spanning data engineering, platforms, governance, analytics, data science and AI.
- Evidence of delivering measurable commercial, customer and operational value from Data and AI investment.
- Experience leading enterprise AI adoption and sustained organisational change, not just technical delivery.
- Deep understanding of modern data architecture, cloud data platforms, advanced analytics, governance, privacy, security and responsible AI.
- Practical experience with large-scale cloud data environments; experience with Google Cloud, BigQuery or Vertex AI would be particularly valuable.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance innovation with platform reliability, regulatory obligations, risk and cost.
- Executive-level communication and influencing skills, with the credibility to advise senior leaders and represent the organisation externally.
- A strong record of building, scaling and inspiring high-performing teams in a competitive talent market.
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience in telecommunications or another data-rich, high-volume consumer business such as banking, retail or utilities.
- Deployed generative or agentic AI solutions into production.
- Worked in agile, product-led or federated operating models.
- Led within complex supplier ecosystems or international group structures.
Benefits of working at Three
- Flexible working through our hybrid model, with three days per week office-based.
- Competitive salary, annual performance bonus and pension contribution.
- 25 days’ annual leave plus 2.5 company days.
- Option to buy or sell up to five days’ annual leave each year.
- Healthcare insurance through our flexible benefits programme.
- Life assurance, phone and laptop, subsidised canteen and free on-site parking.
- Access to learning and development tools.
