The Pac-12 stands at a defining moment in its history. Founded in 1915, the league’s rich legacy of athletic and academic excellence spans over 100 years. Supported by world-class service and empowerment, Pac-12 student-athletes have earned more than 500 NCAA team championships. Now with a renewed and bold vision for its future, the Pac-12 has undergone significant transformation on its journey to launching a new collegiate athletics conference, custom-built for both the modern-day student-athlete and an evolving college sports landscape.
Under the leadership of Commissioner Teresa Gould, the Pac-12 embarks on creating a new legacy, composed of nine member universities, a one-of-its-kind and state-of-the-art broadcast production facility in San Ramon, CA, and a reimagined commercial enterprise that is uniquely positioned to drive strategic partnerships, brand enhancement, revenue generation and other growth opportunities to unlock new and lasting value for both its member universities and its student-athletes.
Currently composed of Oregon State University and Washington State University, the league will welcome seven new full members beginning with the 2026-27 season, including Boise State University, Colorado State University, California State University, Fresno, Gonzaga University, San Diego State University, Texas State University and Utah State University.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, People Operations, this role partners closely with department leaders to help create a best-in-class employee experience and high-performance culture where team members feel connected, supported, informed, and empowered to contribute to the Pac-12’s success. The role provides key support for employee engagement, employee onboarding, internal communications, learning and development, recognition programs, and workplace culture initiatives.
Location
The Pac-12 office is based in San Ramon, CA. This position is open to remote candidates in California, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, Texas, and Utah.
Compensation
The exact salary will depend on the successful candidate’s location, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the employee experience, including leading employee experience initiatives that strengthen culture, engagement, and connection in partnership with the Vice President, People Operations.
- Partner with department leaders to identify opportunities to improve employee engagement and satisfaction across the organization.
- Monitor trends and best practices and make recommendations for improving employee engagement, morale, and retention.
Culture, Learning & Development
- Partner with the Vice President, People Operations to strengthen organizational culture, employee engagement and experience, workforce capability, leadership effectiveness, and overall organizational performance.
- Design, coordinate, and execute employee and leadership development, talent readiness, and succession planning initiatives and processes in partnership with the Vice President, People Operations..
- Develop and execute employee onboarding programs and support assimilating new employees to Pac-12 culture.
- Design and lead initiatives and programs that strengthen workplace culture in a remote/hybrid work environment.
- Develop and execute culture-building programs, initiatives, events, and ways of working to drive a connected and high-performance culture and positive employee experience within a remote workplace.
- Lead the design and continuous improvement of all-staff meetings and employee engagement forums to strengthen organizational culture, alignment, transparency, and engagement.
- Develop and administer employee listening strategies, including surveys, onboarding feedback, stay interviews, and exit interviews.
Organizational Effectiveness, Transformation & Employee Readiness
- Collaborate directly with the Chief Operating Officer to deploy organizational effectiveness strategies and initiatives, ensuring high employee engagement and seamless adoption of new internal processes and ways of working.
- Support organizational change initiatives by developing employee communication, engagement, and adoption strategies that keep employees informed, connected, and aligned.
- Help identify and address barriers to change adoption during periods of change, growth, and transformation.
Employee Insights & Analytics
- Establish, monitor, and analyze employee feedback loops and organizational trends to deliver actionable insights regarding operational inefficiencies, organizational ineffectiveness, and barriers to change adoption.
- Analyze employee surveys, feedback, and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop reporting tools that provide leadership with visibility into employee experience, employee engagement, culture, and retention.
- Identify and adopt leveraging AI tools to improve employee experience and HR operations.
- Recommend actions to improve employee experience and engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Employee Relations, or related field;
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in employee engagement, organizational development, human resources, learning and development, talent management, or related disciplines.
- Strong experience in building culture and employee engagement initiatives; and with a remote workforce
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing organizational operating systems.
- Strong experience leading cross-functional process improvement and change management initiatives.
- Exceptional facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders without direct authority.
- Strong project management and execution capabilities.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation.
- Experience supporting growth, transformation, and organizational change initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills to capture and analyze organizational data and metrics.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and business judgment.
- Experience within professional sports, collegiate athletics, media, or entertainment preferred.
