The Opportunity The Director of Estimating is responsible for leading all estimating functions for large-scale underground infrastructure projects across telecommunications, data center development, utilities, and renewable energy markets. This position provides strategic leadership for preconstruction and estimating operations, ensuring the development of accurate, competitive, and executable cost estimates for complex projects throughout the United States. The Director of Estimating will oversee estimating teams supporting Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), FTTX, long-haul fiber, metro fiber, data center interconnect infrastructure, early site utility development, electric utility underground construction, and renewable energy infrastructure projects. The role is accountable for establishing estimating standards, driving process improvements, developing pricing strategies, and implementing best practices utilizing TrimbleB2W Estimate Enterprise Edition. This position partners closely with Operations, Business Development, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Sales and Executive Leadership to support profitable growth and operational excellence. Responsibilities Lead all estimating and preconstruction activities across telecommunications, data center, utility, and renewable energy markets. Develop estimating strategies, pricing models, and bid pursuit plans that support company growth objectives. Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing estimating organization. Review and approve major estimates, proposals, and bid submissions. Develop conceptual, budgetary, and definitive estimates for complex infrastructure projects. Establish estimating standards, processes, and quality control procedures. Lead risk analysis, value engineering, and constructability reviews. Maintain enterprise cost databases, productivity benchmarks, and estimating metrics. Serve as the organizational leader for Trimble B2W Estimate Enterprise Edition, including governance, training, and continuous improvement. Partner with operations teams to analyze estimate-to-actual performance and improve estimating accuracy. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred. 10+ years of progressive estimating experience in telecommunications, underground utilities, heavy civil, data center infrastructure, or renewable energy construction. 5+ years of leadership experience managing estimating or preconstruction teams. Strong experience with design-build, EPC, CMAR, and traditional delivery methods. Advanced proficiency with Trimble B2W Estimate Enterprise Edition. Strong leadership, communication, financial, and strategic planning skills. Success Measures Estimate accuracy and estimate-to-actual performance. Bid win rates and revenue growth support. Gross margin performance of awarded projects. Development and retention of estimating personnel. Continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes .
