Shape the Future of BODYBAR Operations
BODYBAR Franchising is a fast-growing boutique Reformer Pilates franchise dedicated to helping people build strength, confidence, and healthier lives through movement. We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Franchise Operations to lead field execution, elevate studio performance, and strengthen the franchisee experience across our growing network.
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations & Partnerships, this leader will oversee the full studio lifecycle, from presale and pre-opening through grand opening and ongoing operations. By developing high-performing field teams, driving accountability, and translating performance data into actionable strategies, the Director will strengthen franchisee success and build scalable operating practices to support BODYBAR's continued growth.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Studio Onboarding & Launch Execution
- Oversee the Onboarding Consultant team throughout the pre-opening process, from presale kickoff following lease signing through grand opening and the first 30 days of studio operations.
- Hold Onboarding Consultants accountable for franchisee execution against established presale benchmarks, including founding-member targets, pacing milestones, promotional participation, and revenue goals.
- Partner with Marketing to monitor presale campaign execution, identify gaps in franchisee participation or performance, and implement timely corrective actions.
- Ensure new studios meet all required opening-readiness standards, including training completion, instructor certification, staffing, technology and membership setup, and brand compliance.
- Establish a documented transition from the Onboarding Consultant team to the Business Consultant team, ensuring outstanding items are addressed and franchisees experience continuity of support.
Network Performance Management & Business Growth
- Own network-wide performance reporting, including monthly studio scorecards tracking revenue, average unit volume (AUV), membership economics, conversion, class utilization, attrition, and other key operating metrics.
- Use performance trends, business reviews, and field observations to prioritize studio interventions, direct Business Consultant coaching, identify best practices, and recommend solutions for systemic performance gaps to the Vice President of Operations & Partnerships.
- Establish performance-based coverage priorities in alignment with the VP, ensuring field resources are appropriately focused on new openings, at-risk studios, steady performers, and multi-unit franchisees.
- Ensure Business Consultants conduct consistent studio business reviews, develop actionable improvement plans, and hold franchisees accountable for progress against operating targets.
- Conduct periodic field visits with Business Consultants to evaluate coaching effectiveness, franchisee relationships, studio execution, and opportunities to improve operating performance.
Field Execution & Operational Adoption
- Drive consistent execution of BODYBAR's operating model across the franchise network, ensuring field teams deliver established standards, support practices, and operating expectations.
- Lead the adoption of new standard operating procedures, field playbooks, promotional campaigns, training requirements, approved partnerships, aggregator programs, and other system-wide initiatives.
- Establish clear processes for communicating expectations, monitoring participation and compliance, identifying execution gaps, and ensuring required actions are completed.
- Partner with the Franchise Performance Manager to develop and refine operational procedures and field playbooks for VP review and approval, incorporating field feedback, audit findings, and studio performance trends.
- Ensure franchisees implement required operating practices and complete mandatory training within established timelines, holding Business Consultants accountable for compliance across their portfolios.
- Oversee studio adoption of approved partnership and aggregator programs, ensuring appropriate settings are implemented and participation is monitored.
Field Team Leadership & Development
- Directly lead, coach, and develop the Onboarding Consultant and Business Consultant teams, establishing clear performance expectations, accountability, and individual development priorities.
- Establish a unified team culture and operating rhythm through regular one-on-ones, team meetings, case reviews, and field co-visits, ensuring consistent execution and a high-quality franchisee experience.
- Monitor onboarding workloads, consultant portfolio sizes, and field capacity; recommend resource allocation, hiring needs, and future organizational structure as the franchise network grows.
Brand Standards, Audits & Compliance
- Oversee the studio evaluation and audit calendar through the Business Consultant team, ensuring evaluations are completed on schedule and findings are documented, communicated, and addressed.
- Lead the field-level response to identified performance or brand standard gaps, including coaching, corrective action planning, and follow-up to verify improvement.
- Partner with the Compliance Administrator on escalated matters involving potential contractual implications, ensuring issues are appropriately documented and referred for formal review when necessary.
- Monitor ongoing studio compliance with required training certifications, system credentials, and established brand standards.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Franchisee Support
- Serve as the primary operational coordinator for studio-related deliverables, aligning Marketing, Franchise Development, Franchise Performance, Pilates Education & Programming, and Systems Administration around clear timelines and responsibilities.
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners on presale campaigns, opening timelines, construction milestones, training delivery, instructor certification and staffing readiness, and technology setup to support a coordinated franchisee experience.
- Resolve field-level issues within the Director's authority and escalate significant operational, contractual, or franchisee relationship concerns to the Vice President of Operations & Partnerships with a clear assessment and recommended action.
- Support executive engagement with major multi-unit franchisees and the Franchise Advisory Council on operational priorities and system performance.
- Represent BODYBAR at franchisee conventions, regional meetings, and relevant industry events, strengthening relationships and advancing operational priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least 7 years of progressive experience in franchise operations, multi-unit retail, fitness operations, or a related environment, including 2–3 years in a direct leadership role overseeing a field team.
- Demonstrated experience leading Franchise Business Consultants, Regional Directors of Operations, or comparable field consulting teams within a multi-unit franchise network.
- Experience managing the full franchisee lifecycle, including presale, studio launch, early-stage ramp-up, and mature business performance.
- Direct experience with recurring membership or electronic funds transfer (EFT)-based business models, including membership economics, conversion, attrition, and unit-level profit and loss.
- Proven ability to improve business performance through KPI analysis, structured business reviews, targeted coaching, and measurable action plans.
- Experience balancing franchisee accountability and brand standards with collaborative, productive franchisee relationships.
- Demonstrated success coordinating initiatives across Marketing, Training, Compliance, Franchise Development, and other operational functions.
- Working knowledge of studio or store management systems, CRM platforms, and learning management or training-tracking tools.
