Design the Journey That Keeps Members Connected for Life: Strategic Member Experience Leadership for a Global Nursing Community Position Overview As the Director of Global Member Development at Sigma Nursing, you will serve as the architect and steward of Sigma’s global member experience portfolio, defining how members engage, grow, are recognized, and build meaningful connection across their professional journey. This role is responsible for designing and integrating the systems, strategies, and experiences that connect recognition, awards, mentoring, volunteer engagement, professional enrichment, events, and digital platforms into a unified and intentional member experience. Rather than managing individual programs in isolation, you will ensure these components function as a connected ecosystem that strengthens belonging, leadership development, and long-term member value. You will work closely with the Chief Membership & Volunteer Engagement Officer, Learning & Development, Nursing Strategy & Leadership, and cross-functional partners to ensure member development strategy is aligned, scalable, and grounded in both organizational priorities and real member needs. This is a role for a builder, someone who can operate at the intersection of strategy, systems thinking, and human experience design. You will translate complexity into clarity, identify gaps across the member journey, and build the connective tissue between programs so that members experience Sigma as one cohesive journey, not disconnected touchpoints. Success in this role means members experience a clear pathway from initial engagement to leadership, recognition, and lifelong connection. Volunteer engagement becomes more intentional and sustainable. Mentorship is re-established as a strategic lever. Recognition is meaningful and equitable. And both digital and in-person experiences work together to deepen belonging across a global community. Location, Travel & Compensation This is a remote-friendly role, open to U.S.-based professionals nationwide. Occasional travel is required for business purposes, including meetings, conferences, training, and organizational events. Travel is expected approximately 7 - 10 times per year, though actual frequency may vary based organizational needs. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000; offers are made within this range to ensure equity, consistency, and fiscal responsibility. A Week in the Life Your week begins with your team—reviewing progress across member experience initiatives, recognition programs, volunteer engagement pathways, and digital engagement efforts. You are not simply checking status; you are listening for patterns, friction points, and opportunities to strengthen the system. Midweek, you shift into synthesis and strategy. You review engagement data, participation trends, and member feedback to understand how the experience portfolio is performing as a system. You may notice that mentoring participation is strong in one region but absent in another, or that recognition programs are driving engagement but not translating into long-term retention. Your role is to interpret what the data is signaling about the member experience as a whole. You spend significant time in collaboration with Learning & Development, Nursing Strategy & Leadership, Membership, and volunteer governance partners, ensuring alignment across learning pathways, leadership development, and member engagement strategy. You also stay close to the lived member experience. That means speaking directly with members, volunteers, and stakeholders, especially when experiences are not working as intended. You are as comfortable in listening sessions as you are in strategy discussions. By the end of the week, you are translating insight into direction: refining priorities, shaping portfolio decisions, and ensuring that the member experience is continuously improving, connected, and intentional across all channels. This is work for someone who thrives in complexity, builds structure where none exists, and sees member experience as a living system, not a set of programs. You Would Thrive in This Position If You bring seven or more years of progressive experience leading member engagement, volunteer engagement, professional development, constituent experience, or association management functions, along with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. A master's degree and experience within a professional association, membership organization, or healthcare environment are meaningful pluses. You have demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives that increase engagement, participation, retention, or overall constituent value, and you bring experience leading cross-functional projects and building collaborative partnerships across multiple departments and stakeholder groups. You have experience across multiple areas of member experience, such as recognition, awards, mentoring, volunteer engagement pathways, professional enrichment, or digital community platforms, and you think in systems rather than isolated programs. You are energized by finding the connective tissue between initiatives and making the whole stronger than the sum of its parts. You have demonstrated experience using data, metrics, and constituent insights to evaluate program effectiveness and inform strategic decision-making, and you bring strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across diverse audiences. You have experience managing professional staff, including coaching, performance management, and team development, and you know how to lead a team through ambiguity and iterative improvement without losing momentum or clarity of direction. You are comfortable building in environments where not everything is defined yet. You thrive when asked to create structure where little exists, can move fluidly between high-level strategy and lived member experience detail, and bring the patience and persistence that long-horizon portfolio work requires. Experience leading member experience, recognition, volunteer leadership, or community engagement portfolios is a strong plus, as is familiarity with CRM systems, engagement platforms, survey tools, and data reporting systems. Experience managing budgets or revenue-generating programs is also valued.
