Description : The Director of Implementation and Field Engagement is a senior level, strategic role, responsible for expanding the reach and capacity of SADD’s national network. works to expand the reach of the organization through the strategic mobilization and expansion network. . The Director leads a high-performing field team, manages a complex portfolio of state-level grants, and cultivates strong relationships with Highway Safety Offices, state coordinators, chapter advisors, and community partners — ensuring the field network is positioned for long-term impact. Reports to : Executive Director Classification: Full-Time, Exempt Direct Reports : Associate Director of Field Operations; Associate Director, Youth Leadership and Advocacy, State Coordinators and Affiliated Field Staff (grant-funded) Key Responsibilities : Design and implement a national field engagement strategy aligned with SADD's mission, vision, and Strategic Plan. Lead chapter expansion efforts, including but not limited to recruitment, reactivation, and sustainability of active school chapters across targeted states. Identify emerging opportunities for field-level impact and bring forward data-informed recommendations to senior leadership. Provide personal direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for reporting team members Serve as the primary lead on all field-related grant portfolios — including annual grant writing, support in grant goal-setting, budget development, and compliance documentation for Highway Safety Office (HSO) grants and other funders. Oversee field staff performance tied to grant deliverables; ensure timely expense submission, spend-down monitoring, purchasing approvals, and travel authorizations across all active states. Lead and participate in annual and ongoing grant monitoring meetings with HSO partners; maintain priority alignment and relationship management at the state level. Oversee state-specific reporting requirements (monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and end-of-year) in partnership with the Assistant Director of Field Operations. Build and sustain strong relationships with Highway Safety Offices, state agencies, community coalitions, law enforcement, school districts, and local partners. Serve as liaison between the national office and field network, facilitating consistent communication, resource distribution, and organizational alignment. Co-Lead critical components of the SADD National Conference and other field-facing events, including logistics coordination, field staff engagement, and student leadership programming. Manage event-related logistics, material distribution, and vendor relationships for field activities. Oversee the collection, tracking, and reporting of chapter activity metrics, participation data, and field impact outcomes. Serve as an active and engaged member of the SADD Senior Leadership Team, contributing a field-grounded perspective to organizational planning, policy, and decision-making. Support the Executive Director on strategic initiatives, as assigned. Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Vice President of Public Affairs and/or CEO. A, R State Farm Grant Admin (GA, WI, NY) A, R OH Advisor Mentorship Program Pilot A, R Grant Financial Monitoring / Compliance R, C Payroll Timesheet Approvals R Organizational Strategy & Planning C, I RACI Key: R = Responsible (does the work) | A = Accountable (owns the outcome) | C = Consulted (provides input) | I = Informed (kept in the loop) Requirements QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES Required Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit field operations, youth-serving organizations, or public health/safety program management; experience with multi-state or federated network structures strongly preferred. Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-state grant portfolios including Highway Safety Office (HSO) or federal/state grants, from application through closeout. Proven track record leading and developing geographically dispersed teams and holding staff accountable to performance goals in a remote environment. Advanced skills in grant writing, budget development, expense tracking, and compliance documentation. Strong relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders including government agencies, school partners, community coalitions, and youth-serving professionals. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and deliverables simultaneously across a high-volume portfolio. High proficiency in data collection, outcome tracking, and narrative reporting for grant funders and organizational leadership. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to represent the organization credibly in public and professional settings. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management platforms, and CRM/data systems. Willingness and ability to travel regularly in support of field operations, grant activities, and events. Preferred Experience in youth health, safety, or prevention-focused nonprofit environments. Familiarity with SAM (System for Award Management) compliance and federal grant administration requirements. Experience managing internship programs, speaker bureaus, or ambassador/activation programs. Background in public affairs, advocacy, or community organizing at a state or regional level.
