Director of Information Technology - Life & Pensions industry experience essential

We are seeking an experienced Director of Information Technology to provide senior technology leadership within a significant Life & Pensions business. Top package on offer and flexible hybrid remote work

This is a key leadership position with responsibility for technology strategy, delivery and transformation across a complex Life & Pensions environment.

The successful candidate will combine strong technology leadership credentials with deep Life & Pensions industry experience. You will understand the technology, platforms, operational processes and regulatory requirements that underpin modern Life & Pensions businesses and will be comfortable operating with senior business, technology and client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive the technology strategy supporting the Life & Pensions business.
• Provide leadership across technology delivery, applications, architecture, engineering and transformation.
• Lead the modernisation and evolution of Life & Pensions technology platforms and services.
• Ensure technology strategy is closely aligned with business objectives, client requirements and growth plans.
• Oversee complex technology programmes from strategy and design through implementation and operational adoption.
• Drive improvements across legacy platforms, digital capabilities, automation, data and integration.
• Lead technology initiatives relating to Life & Pensions policy administration and servicing.
• Partner closely with Operations, Product, Change, Risk, Compliance and senior business leadership.
• Build strong relationships with key clients and act as a senior technology representative in strategic client discussions.
• Provide leadership and direction to technology teams, creating a high-performance and delivery-focused culture.
• Manage technology roadmaps, investment priorities, budgets, resources, vendors and third-party technology relationships.
• Ensure appropriate technology governance, resilience, security, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Identify opportunities to use AI, automation and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer outcomes.
• Support the development of scalable technology solutions capable of supporting business growth and new client implementations.

Experience

• Significant Life & Pensions industry experience is essential.
• Proven experience operating at Technology Director, Head of Technology, Head of IT, CIO, CTO or equivalent senior technology leadership level.
• Strong understanding of Life & Pensions technology environments, ideally including policy administration systems and pension administration platforms.
• Experience delivering major technology transformation and modernisation programmes.
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end Life & Pensions operating environment.
• Experience managing complex application and technology estates, including legacy and modern platforms.
• Demonstrable experience leading sizeable technology teams and/or multiple technology functions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate effectively with C-suite executives, clients and senior business leaders.
• Experience managing technology vendors, strategic partners and outsourced services.
• Strong understanding of technology governance, operational resilience, security and regulatory requirements within financial services.
• Proven track record of translating business strategy into executable technology roadmaps.
