OVERVIEW

The Director of National Accounts & Builder Development is responsible for developing and executing strategic growth initiatives across key national and regional accounts within the residential construction market. This role will focus on expanding Evolution Steel Framing's presence with national and regional homebuilders, multifamily developers, architects, lumber and building material dealers, and other strategic channel partners while driving profitable revenue growth and market share expansion.

Working closely with sales, operations, product development, finance, customer service, and supply chain teams, the Director will lead the development and execution of national account strategies, secure and manage commercial agreements, influence design specifications, optimize product offerings, and ensure successful program implementation across multiple markets. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to executive-level stakeholders while identifying new business opportunities and fostering long-term strategic partnerships.


The ideal candidate is a proven business development and national accounts leader with deep experience within the building products, construction, or related industries. They possess a strong understanding of builder and channel sales strategies, specification development, distribution networks, and account management, along with the ability to effectively navigate complex organizations and drive cross-functional execution.


This position will be based out of a home office or our office in Garland, TX and require regular travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Strategic Account Leadership: Develop and execute national account strategies aligned with company growth objectives; identify opportunities to expand market share within key national accounts.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with national account customers; serve as primary point of contact for high-value clients, ensuring satisfaction and retention.
  • Revenue Growth & Profitability: Drive top-line revenue growth and margin improvement across national accounts; negotiate pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements.
  • Sales & Business Development: Identify new business opportunities within existing and prospective national accounts; collaborate with sales teams to develop targeted account plans and win strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with operations, production, finance, and customer service teams to deliver solutions; ensure alignment between customer expectations and internal capabilities.
  • Contract & Program Management: Oversee contract performance, compliance, and renewal processes; monitor key account programs to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Forecasting & Reporting: Develop accurate sales forecasts and pipeline tracking for national accounts; provide regular performance reports and insights to executive leadership.
  • Market & Competitive Analysis: Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and customer needs; adjust strategies to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Customer Experience & Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency; resolve escalated issues quickly and effectively.
  • Team Collaboration & Leadership: Mentor and guide account managers or regional sales teams supporting national accounts; promote a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
  • Pricing & Value Strategy: Develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and profitability; present value propositions tailored to large, multi-location customers.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all account activities comply with company policies and industry regulations; mitigate risks associated with large-scale client agreements.

Niche Homebuilders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and recruit homebuilders who are a good fit for Evolution Steel Framing – high end builders focusing on design and quality, in high return markets
  • Work cross functionally to establish and optimize product offering and design
  • Own program rollout across markets, including pricing and fulfillment

Multi-Family Residential Developers

Ex: Greystar, Mill Creek Residential, Wood Partners, Lennar Multifamily, etc.

National Multifamily & Production Builder Architects

Ex: KTGY, Humphreys & Partners Architects, Bassenian Lagoni, MVE + Partners, etc.


National / Regional LBM & Pro Dealer Partners

Ex: Builders FirstSource, 84 Lumber, ABC Supply, Carter Lumber, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Align Dealer and homebuilder network ensuring product availability and fulfillment
  • Develop & Execute National Accounts Dealer Plan, including fulfillment plan from distribution network or direct sales
  • Execute National / Regional Agreements and programs, including locations, stocking levels, volume, pricing, incentives
  • Develop and execute growth and location expansion plans with existing multi-location dealers

National Multifamily & Production Builder Architects

Ex – KTGY, Humphreys & Partners Architects, Bassenian Lagoni, MVE + Partners, etc.


End User National Accounts

Education/Experience/Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in national accounts, business development, sales leadership, builder development, or strategic account management.
  • Demonstrated success developing and growing relationships with national and regional homebuilders, multifamily developers, architects, dealers, distributors, and other strategic construction-related accounts.
  • Proven experience negotiating national agreements, pricing programs, contracts, rebates, and long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction, multifamily construction, building products, specification selling, and channel distribution models.
  • Experience developing and executing account growth strategies that drive revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion.
  • Proven ability to build executive-level relationships and influence decision makers across complex organizations.
  • Experience collaborating across sales, operations, finance, supply chain, marketing, and customer service functions to deliver customer solutions and achieve business objectives.
  • Strong analytical, financial, forecasting, and business planning skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales reporting tools.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with a results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to develop and present compelling value propositions to large, multi-location customers and strategic partners.

This is a field-based outside sales role operating out of a home office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Regular travel to customer, project, or operating sites is required, which may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions and may require the use of required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to steel toe shoes, hearing protection, and other site-specific safety gear.
