Amex Digital Labs is responsible for catalyzing digital innovation at American Express by originating, incubating, and managing emerging products and platforms that can be essential to our customers’ digital lives. We emphasize creativity, customer centricity, and innovation. Focus areas include crafting industry-leading digital payment solutions, using our servicing network and lifestyle assets to build digital experiences, and defining new products and services based on emerging technologies and trends.
Role Overview
Amex Digital Labs is hiring a Product Director to lead the strategy and development of new products that create value for Card Members and broaden what American Express Membership makes possible. They will identify Card Member needs and opportunities where advances in agentic AI can unlock entirely new products and experiences. They will draw on American Express’s membership and lifestyle assets to turn the strongest opportunities into differentiated products. The work could range from transforming how Card Members plan and experience trips to helping them discover events, entertainment, and things to do.
This role requires a seasoned product leader and builder with the judgment to turn ambiguous customer needs into clear product bets, guide 0 to 1 development, and scale the strongest products and underlying capabilities. They will bring hands-on fluency with agentic AI-- enough to prototype, assess feasibility and tradeoffs, and shape products alongside design and engineering. They must also lead and develop a high-performing team, align partners across American Express, and work effectively with external partners.

- Build experiences that make advanced technology feel simple, intuitive, and trustworthy.

- Strong product sense and experience applying human-centered design, customer research, data, and experimentation to make high-quality decisions.
- Technical fluency in generative AI, agentic AI, LLMs, APIs, and platforms, with experience working hands-on with design and engineering to prototype ideas and evaluate tradeoffs.
- Experience defining product strategy and managing a portfolio of opportunities at different stages of maturity.
- Proven ability to operate in complex, highly regulated environments and align stakeholders across product, design, engineering, data, risk, legal, privacy, compliance, and information security.
