Director of Public Policy, UAE/Middle East

Role Description The Director of Public Policy, UAE/Middle East at UD Bikes Europe is a full-time remote role responsible for shaping and advancing the company’s public policy agenda across the region. This position leads engagement with government entities, regulatory authorities, and industry associations to support sustainable urban mobility and cycling-related initiatives. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, drafting policy positions and briefing materials, and coordinating lobbying and advocacy strategies aligned with business objectives. The director will build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, represent the company in public consultations and industry forums, and collaborate closely with internal teams such as legal, compliance, marketing, and operations. The role also involves assessing policy risks and opportunities, advising senior leadership on regional public policy trends, and ensuring that all advocacy activities comply with applicable laws and ethical standards.
Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in governmental affairs and government relations, with a strong track record of engaging public sector stakeholders in the UAE and wider Middle East.
• Proficiency in lobbying and legislative relations, including experience developing and implementing advocacy strategies and participating in consultations and hearings.
• In-depth understanding of legislation and regulatory processes, with the ability to analyze proposed laws and regulations and translate implications into actionable guidance for the business.
• Advanced knowledge of public policy, regulatory frameworks, and political dynamics relevant to mobility, transportation, sustainability, or related sectors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is highly beneficial.
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation abilities, with experience collaborating across diverse cultures and stakeholder groups.
• Proven strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to manage multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, International Relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Prior experience in a senior public policy, government affairs, or regulatory role within an international organization or industry association.
• Commitment to ethical advocacy practices and compliance with all applicable laws and internal policies.
