Role Overview As part of the Chartis Strategy Office, the Chartis Research Team conducts industry analysis and market research to inform the firm's distinctive points of view on key developments impacting the healthcare industry. As Director of Research, you will help to lead strategic research initiatives. Reporting to the AVP of Research, you will play a pivotal role in monitoring and interpreting key market issues and shaping firm perspectives on the most impactful dynamics happening in healthcare, such as policy financing, access and affordability, and technology innovation. This role is instrumental in supporting the Strategy Office and advancing the firm's intellectual capital through the development of compelling insights in support of our firm’s growth priorities and go-to-market efforts, including thought leadership, offering development, and business development. This role operates as a strategic partner to firm leadership, with the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues across lines of business and other professional services teams This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a passion for shaping the firm's perspectives on healthcare's most critical challenges. Responsibilities Leads the development and execution of the team’s strategic insights program, translating complex industry trends and emerging issues into compelling insights across multiple audiences (internal and external). Maintains cutting-edge knowledge across relevant functional and industry areas; proactively scans the external environment to identify emerging trends and implications for the firm. Serves as a trusted strategic thought partner to the Strategy Office and firm leadership, contributing market-informed insights to inform firm strategy and priorities. Supports the development and writing of white papers, executive briefs, primers, and other intellectual capital that establishes Chartis as a recognized thought leader within the industry. Independently develops and refines research-informed perspectives on key trends and serves as an active contributor in shaping the firm's insights on critical issues, collaborating with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and service line partners. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, creativity, and critical and strategic thinking within the Research team and in other collaborations across the firm Models and champions the firm's core values through daily interactions Partners with colleagues across the firm to design and improve data systems that support insights. Qualifications and Desired Skills Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or related field required; Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent) preferred. 8+ years of progressive experience in management consulting, strategic insights, research, or strategy functions, with at least some experience in professional services or knowledge-intensive environments. Strategic mindset with the ability to understand firm priorities and translate them into research and insights agendas. Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving and analytic capabilities; ability to synthesize complex information and quantitative data into clear, actionable insights; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex ideas clearly to senior leaders and diverse audiences. Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and bring structure to new or evolving areas, with a focus on process improvement and excellence. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities for various stakeholders simultaneously while maintaining quality; demonstrated skill in prioritization and workload management. Demonstrated expertise in healthcare trends, policy, market dynamics, and operational issues affecting health systems and health plans. Proven ability to influence and build relationships across organizational levels without formal authority. Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong skills in PowerPoint, data visualization tools, and emerging AI tools. Experience supporting business development, thought leadership development, or policy implication analysis preferred. Experience with market research methodologies, data analysis, and business intelligence tools preferred. Salary range: $110,000-150,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
