Director of U.S. Programs

We are currently in search of a Director of U.S. Programs to join our U.S. Mission Impact team! The Director of U.S. Programs is responsible for managing our U.S. program portfolio in alignment with Feed the Children’s strategic plan. This position will help design and manage implementation guidelines and oversee the implementation of programming to ensure Feed the Children’s programs make a significant contribution to reducing child hunger. This position will also support efforts to monitor program impact, secure funding for program implementation, and promote programming with external stakeholders.

Location: Oklahoma City, OK (hybrid) or remote within the U.S. Candidates located in or near Oklahoma City, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, or Memphis are preferred.

Job Requirements:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Sociology, Social Work, Nutrition, Political Science or a related field required.

Experience

5+ years of related professional work experience, ideally in child hunger or human services program creation, development and implementation.

2+ years of demonstrated leadership experience in developing teams and working with external organizations.

2+ years of experience with child safeguarding: policies, procedures and practices employed to make a business safe for all children worked with preferred.

Knowledge of business and management principles related to program development, resource allocation, program monitoring and evaluation and coordination of people and resources.

Clear understanding of nonprofit organizations’ typical structure and operating principles.

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this job may be considered.

Essential Functions:

Program Implementation (60%)

Coordinate implementation of U.S. programming by working with colleagues to ensure appropriate community partners are recruited, trained and monitored to implement programmatic vision and impact.

Ensure partners receive the products and program support materials for successful execution in a timely manner.

Ensure development and execution of formal partner program agreements.

Develop best practice guidelines for programs and provide technical assistance on the guidelines to implementing community partners.

Program Support (20%)

Develop and maintain balanced program budgets.

Collaborate on efforts to secure and maintain private and public funding for program implementation, including proposal development and reporting program impact to funders.

Promote programmatic work and impact with donors, partners and other key stakeholders.

Ensure program compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, Feed the Children policies and safeguarding practices; maintain accountability standards.

Team Leadership (20%)

Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws including: training in job skills; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Establish an environment of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, a commitment to quality, welcomes and encourages collaboration, and fosters both intra and inter-departmental dialogue and respect.

Model the type and level of behavior, professionalism and personal leadership that is in accordance with the values of the organization.

Perform other related duties as required.

Travel: The travel requirements for this position are estimated to be <20% of the work time with some occasional weekends. Travel could include, but is not limited to, program site visits, program events, conferences for continuing education, etc.
