Posted Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 4:00 AM What We Need Corpay is currently looking to hire a Director, Operations Automation within our Corpay division. This position falls under our Corpay Payables line of business and is Remote. In this role, you will serve as the business-side automation design and enablement leader across Corpay Payables. The role will identify and shape automation opportunities, redesign processes, define end-to-end business requirements and acceptance criteria, maintain the automation roadmap, establish performance monitoring, and drive timely realization of expected business outcomes. You will report directly to the SVP, Automation Operations and regularly collaborate with multiple departments. How We Work As a Director, Operations Automation Corpay will set you up for success by providing: Company-issued equipment Formal, hands-on training Role Responsibilities The responsibilities of the role will include: Automation Strategy, Portfolio, and Roadmap Translate the broader Payables and Operations strategy into a practical automation roadmap that improves scale, cost-to-serve, quality, control effectiveness, associate productivity, client experience, supplier experience, and payment outcomes. Maintain a rolling multi-year roadmap and near-term delivery plan that clearly identifies priorities, business value, dependencies, readiness, target outcomes, and decision points. Establish and manage a structured intake process for automation opportunities originating from Operations, Product, Technology, clients, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders. Evaluate opportunities using consistent criteria including volume, effort, value, customer impact, control improvement, feasibility, complexity, dependency, resiliency, and time-to-value. Recommend sequencing and tradeoffs based on expected business outcomes and available delivery capacity, escalating priority conflicts or investment decisions as appropriate. Maintain a complete inventory of active, planned, paused, and retired automations with clear ownership, status, dependencies, performance measures, and lifecycle disposition. Process Discovery and Automation Design Work directly with operational leaders, subject-matter experts, and frontline associates to identify high-friction, high-volume, repetitive, error-prone, or control-intensive work suitable for automation. Map current-state processes, handoffs, decisions, exceptions, data requirements, failure points, and controls before solution design begins. Redesign processes before automating them to eliminate unnecessary steps, rework, duplicate activity, manual research, avoidable exceptions, and failure demand. Define the future-state operating process, including automated steps, human decisions, exception paths, fallback processes, service expectations, controls, and ownership. Select the appropriate automation pattern in partnership with technology owners, recognizing when workflow, RPA, AI, agentic automation, self-service, desktop enablement, data integration, or process simplification is the best fit. Ensure designs are scalable, supportable, measurable, control-conscious, and practical for real operating conditions. Business Requirements and Build Readiness Own the quality and completeness of business requirements for automation initiatives, including process requirements, user stories, business rules, data needs, control requirements, exception logic, monitoring, reporting, and acceptance criteria. Convert operational needs into clear, testable requirements that development and platform teams can estimate, design, build, and validate without unnecessary ambiguity or rework. Define business outcomes and success measures before build begins, including baseline performance and expected improvements in productivity, cycle time, quality, accuracy, no-touch processing, cost, revenue, service, and experience where applicable. Identify dependencies, source-system impacts, data needs, policy decisions, control reviews, operational prerequisites, and stakeholder decisions early enough to prevent avoidable delivery delays. Lead business design reviews and ensure required decisions are resolved quickly so technical owners can maintain build velocity. Maintain requirements traceability from initial business problem through delivered capability, testing, deployment, and post-launch performance. Cross-Functional Delivery Enablement and Speed Partner closely with Product, Technology, Data, AI, PEGA, engineering, and platform owners who retain accountability for technical architecture, development, platform integrity, and production deployment. Serve as the primary Operations automation counterpart to technical teams, creating a single clear business view of priorities, requirements, tradeoffs, and expected outcomes. Remove business-side blockers quickly by coordinating decisions, clarifying requirements, resolving process questions, securing subject-matter expertise, and escalating unresolved dependencies. Drive disciplined handoffs between discovery, design, estimation, build, testing, deployment, and stabilization to reduce cycle time and lost momentum. Coordinate business testing, user acceptance, operational readiness, training or knowledge updates, controls validation, communications, and launch readiness. Hold stakeholders accountable to agreed milestones and surface risks, decisions, and dependency gaps early enough for corrective action. Monitoring, Performance, and Benefit Realization Define monitoring and dashboard requirements for each automation so business and technical owners can see availability, throughput, success rate, exception rate, aging, accuracy, adoption, failure modes, and business impact. Establish baseline measures and post-launch scorecards that demonstrate whether each automation is producing the intended operational, financial, control, client, supplier, and associate outcomes. Monitor performance trends and rapidly identify degradation, recurring defects, adoption gaps, process drift, or changes in business conditions that reduce automation value. Lead recurring performance reviews with business and technology owners and drive corrective actions for automations that miss agreed thresholds. Validate realized benefits such as capacity creation, cost avoidance, service improvement, cycle-time reduction, error reduction, payment success, revenue protection, and experience improvement. Provide concise executive reporting on roadmap delivery, value realization, risks, adoption, incidents, performance, and decisions requiring leadership action. Lifecycle, Controls, Resiliency, and Continuous Improvement Ensure every automation has documented controls, exception handling, fallback procedures, monitoring, support ownership, and recovery expectations appropriate to its risk and business criticality. Partner with Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Operations stakeholders to incorporate control, auditability, security, resiliency, and regulatory considerations into design and acceptance criteria. Lead business-side root-cause analysis for recurring failures and defects, distinguishing process, requirements, data, technology, adoption, and operating-model causes. Continuously optimize automation performance as volumes, processes, policies, systems, client needs, and technology capabilities evolve. Recommend redesign, replacement, pause, or retirement when an automation no longer meets value, control, reliability, or experience thresholds. Create reusable standards, templates, design patterns, metrics, and governance practices that make future automation work faster and more consistent. Cross-Functional Partnership and Influence Build strong working relationships across Operations, Product, Technology, Data, AI, Risk, Finance, Compliance, Client Operations, Supplier Operations, Payment Operations, and external partners. Influence priorities and outcomes across teams that do not report to the role through clear business cases, strong requirements, fact-based decision making, and persistent follow-through. Create alignment on ownership boundaries: the Director owns business automation design, requirements, roadmap, operational readiness, monitoring, and outcome realization; technical teams own architecture, code, platform engineering, and technical deployment. Use client, supplier, associate, and operational feedback as direct inputs to roadmap decisions and continuous improvement. Act as a visible advocate for automation that simplifies work and improves outcomes rather than adding disconnected tools or automating inefficient processes. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Technology, Engineering, Product Management, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 8+ years of progressive experience in operations, automation, product operations, process engineering, transformation, fintech, payments, or a related field. Demonstrated success designing and delivering automation initiatives that produced measurable improvements in productivity, speed, quality, cost, controls, customer experience, or payment outcomes. Strong experience translating complex operational processes into clear business requirements, workflows, business rules, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes. Experience managing automation roadmaps or portfolios across multiple capabilities such as workflow, RPA, AI-assisted operations, agentic automation, desktop automation, self-service, or payment automation. Strong command of process design, requirements management, operational readiness, testing, performance monitoring, exception design, benefit realization, and continuous improvement. Proven ability to partner effectively with Product, Technology, Data, engineering, and platform teams while operating without direct authority over technical resources. Strong analytical skills with the ability to use operational, financial, risk, and experience data to prioritize work and evaluate results. Experience in B2B payments, fintech, or high-volume regulated operations strongly preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convert complex process and technical topics into clear decisions, requirements, and executive updates. Comfort operating as a senior individual contributor: hands-on enough to work through detailed process and requirements issues while influential enough to drive alignment across senior stakeholders. Benefits & Perks Medical, Dental & Vision benefits available the 1st month after hire Automatic enrollment into our 401(k) plan (subject to eligibility requirements) Virtual fitness classes offered company-wide Robust PTO offerings including major holidays, vacation, sick, personal, & volunteer time Employee discounts with major providers (i.e. wireless, gym, car rental, etc.) Philanthropic support with both local and national organizations Fun culture with company-wide contests and prizes #LI-Corpay About Corpay Corpay is a global technology organization that is leading the future of commercial payments with a culture of innovation that drives us to constantly create new and better ways to pay.
