Director, Retail Media (Onsite & Retargeting)

The client is a management consulting firm that is advising a large Retailer on their in-housing initiative specific to Onsite Media and Retargeting. Start : August 1, 2026 Project Length : 2 months Hourly Rate: $150 Location : Remote We are looking for a Rosie with operational expertise to oversee the execution of onsite media and retargeting for the retailer, with a strong understanding of retail media execution, optimization, and ideally handover from agency to in-house. You'll serve as the SME on a larger management consulting team, providing insight into specific roles, evolving technologies, and requirements for successful in-house activation of onsite and retargeting. You'll use your experience to predict potential watch outs and plan for them as we devise the inhousing change management plan. We're looking for specific expertise here, not a generalist. The team you'll be joining has broad expertise in retail media, agency inhousing, change management, and overall operating model and organizational design. What You'll Bring Experience in: Onsite media Retail website retargeting Retail media (in-house) Ability to: Translate experience into benchmarks Source current market intelligence, including current role descriptions, AI augmentations for teams, and technology feedback Evaluate a proposed external agency and in-house solution against objectives, timelines, and costs, and provide a detailed SWOT analysis Define change management plan milestones associated with inhousing efforts 8-10+ years in retail media, with direct hands-on experience in onsite media and retargeting (not adjacent categories like paid social or search) Direct experience working in-house at a retailer, ideally having gone through or led an agency-to-in-house transition themselves Experience with major retail media platforms Background in retail media network operations, whether on the retailer side or supporting one as an agency or vendor partner Comfort building and presenting frameworks like SWOT analyses, benchmarks, or org design recommendations, rather than just executing campaigns Experience with change management, org design, or operating model work Deep understanding of onsite ad formats (sponsored product, display, native) and retargeting mechanics specific to retail (first-party data usage, walled garden dynamics) Familiarity with the current retail media talent landscape, so they can speak credibly to role structures, team sizes, and hiring needs for an in-house team Awareness of AI's growing role in retail media operations (optimization, creative, reporting) Strong executive presence, since they'll be the SME voice in front of a consulting team and likely client stakeholders Ability to work independently and synthesize ambiguous inputs into clear recommendations, given the advisory nature of the work We Are Rosie provides strategic consulting and talent solutions for the marketing industry.
