Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
The Director, Sales Operations enables effective commercial execution through disciplined sales
processes, pipeline management, reporting, governance, CRM adherence, and structured operating
routines. The role is responsible for creating consistency, transparency, and accountability across
commercial teams by ensuring sales processes are effectively implemented, performance information is
reliable and actionable, and operating cadences support execution excellence. Working closely with
leadership and commercial teams, the Director, Sales Operations provides the operational structure,
governance, and visibility necessary to support informed decision-making and consistent commercial
performance. The role contributes to broader excellence and objectives by strengthening execution
discipline and performance transparency without ownership of commercial strategy, revenue
performance, customer portfolios, pricing governance, or P&L outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Process Management & Execution Discipline
• Lead the implementation and sustainment of sales processes that support consistent
commercial execution and alignment across commercial teams.
• Establish and maintain sales process standards that promote operational discipline,
visibility, and accountability.
• Monitor sales process effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve efficiency,
execution consistency, and user adoption.
• Support the consistent application of commercial operating practices across the
organization.
• Recommend process improvements that strengthen execution quality and commercial
effectiveness.
Pipeline Governance & Performance Visibility
• Maintain pipeline governance processes that provide accurate and timely visibility into
commercial opportunities and performance trends.
• Establish structured pipeline review routines that improve transparency, consistency, and
accountability across commercial teams.
• Monitor adherence to opportunity management practices and support improved pipeline
quality and visibility.
• Identify gaps or risks affecting pipeline integrity and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide visibility into pipeline activity to support commercial planning and execution
decisions.
CRM Discipline & Data Integrity
• Drive disciplined use of CRM systems through consistent process application, governance
expectations, and monitoring routines.
• Promote data quality and process compliance practices that improve the integrity and
usability of commercial information.
• Support adoption of standardized CRM processes that strengthen opportunity
management and performance visibility.
• Identify process-related issues affecting CRM effectiveness and recommend actions that
improve user adoption and data reliability.
• Partner with stakeholders to reinforce CRM best practices and process consistency.
Commercial Reporting & Performance Management
• Manage reporting cadence and performance-management routines that support informed
decision-making and commercial accountability.
• Coordinate delivery of recurring commercial reporting and performance visibility
processes.
• Ensure commercial leaders have access to timely, consistent, and actionable performance
information.
• Support performance reviews by providing reliable reporting, process governance, and
operational visibility.
• Identify reporting improvement opportunities that enhance decision support and business
insight.
Operating Cadence & Governance
• Establish and maintain operating routines that support execution discipline, performance
review processes, and ongoing business management.
• Coordinate recurring governance processes that improve accountability, transparency,
and alignment across commercial teams.
• Support implementation of standardized performance-management routines and
commercial review processes.
• Promote consistent execution of governance and operating practices across the
organization.
• Monitor effectiveness of operating cadence routines and recommend enhancements
where appropriate.
Cross-Functional Commercial Coordination
• Partner with commercial leaders, excellence teams, reporting functions, and other
stakeholders to support consistent execution practices.
• Facilitate alignment among teams participating in sales processes, reporting activities,
pipeline reviews, and performance-management routines.
• Coordinate activities that improve visibility into commercial performance and execution
effectiveness.
• Support collaboration between commercial and support functions to strengthen operating
consistency and performance discipline.
• Promote fact-based decision-making through effective use of reporting, governance, and
process-management practices.
Sales Operating Model Improvement
• Evaluate sales-operating processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency,
visibility, adoption, and execution effectiveness.
• Develop recommendations that strengthen commercial operating routines, reporting
effectiveness, and governance discipline.
• Support implementation of approved operating-model improvements and process
enhancements.
• Contribute operational insight that supports business excellence objectives and broader
commercial performance initiatives.
Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness
• Provide leadership and direction within assigned areas of responsibility to support
accountability, collaboration, and execution excellence.
• Promote disciplined execution, governance adherence, and performance transparency
across commercial teams.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational rigor, and process consistency.
Talent Development & Succession
• Support capability development through coaching, knowledge sharing, and performance
feedback.
• Reinforce best practices in sales operations, reporting discipline, process governance, and
performance management.
• Support succession planning and development activities within the Sales Operations
function.
Qualifications
Education & Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, logistics, marketing or a related field; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
- MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
Experience:
• 8+ years of experience in sales operations, commercial operations, business operations,
commercial analytics, performance management, or related business disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience implementing sales processes, performance routines, governance
practices, and reporting disciplines.
• Experience managing CRM-related processes and supporting commercial execution through
operational controls and reporting.
• Proven ability to improve process adoption, operating consistency, and commercial visibility
across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Experience supporting commercial teams through structured performance-management and
reporting practices.
• Experience working in complex, matrixed organizations requiring extensive cross-functional
collaboration.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with CRM platforms, Business Intelligence (BI) tools, reporting systems, and
performance-management applications preferred.
• Strong analytical capabilities and experience working with commercial reporting, opportunity
management data, and performance metrics.
