- Lead a multidisciplinary technology portfolio spanning cloud, platforms, data, integration, platform architecture, reliability and technology operations.
- Shape major technology investment and lifecycle decisions supporting digital services used by millions of people and businesses across NSW.
- Public Service Senior Executive Band 1 Remuneration.
- Ongoing employment opportunity.
- Based in either Sydney CBD or Parramatta with hybrid working arrangements available. The ability to travel to both locations is required.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, you will lead the technology platforms and shared services that underpin digital service delivery across Service NSW. The portfolio spans cloud and container platforms, APIs and integration, data and analytics, service-delivery platforms, platform architecture, site reliability, incident management and integrated technology operations.
This is not a traditional infrastructure or technology-governance role. Your mandate is to bring a broad portfolio of platforms, tools and services together as a coherent platform-product and engineering organisation. You will make supported technology choices easier for teams to adopt, improve the engineering experience and strengthen reliability, security, interoperability and cost discipline.
Leading approximately 10 direct reports and a portfolio of around 90 people, this will suit a leader who can combine strategic thinking, technical expertise and people leadership while supporting critical customer-facing services and building capability across a complex and modern technology environment.

Does this sound like you?
You are an experienced technology executive with expertise in platform engineering, cloud services, technology operations, site reliability or large-scale digital platforms. You have led enterprise technology environments, influenced technology strategy and investment decisions, and delivered secure, resilient and scalable services supporting critical customer-facing operations.
You understand that platforms are products. You see engineers and product teams as customers.
You will bring:
- Experience leading enterprise technology platforms, services or operations at scale.
- Strong technical judgement when navigating complex technical, commercial and operational decisions, including technology investment and architecture considerations.
- Experience balancing transformation, risk, operational resilience and service continuity within critical customer-facing environments.
- Experience modernising enterprise technology environments and guiding technology lifecycle decisions.
- Experience developing high-performing leaders and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across organisations, government agencies and industry partners.
- Commercial judgement across technology procurement, sourcing, vendor negotiations and whole-of-life investment.
- A practical understanding of AI-enabled technology and the secure technology foundations required to support it.
Your application should include an up-to-date CV which clearly details your relevant skills and experience to this position. Cover Letter and Selection Criteria are not mandatory. If you choose to provide a cover letter, please include it with your CV in one document.
