Director - Workforce Advisory and Market Growth

The opportunity

As a Director in EY's People Consulting team, you'll play a pivotal role in growing and shaping our People Consulting practice across Perth. Working with some of Australia's largest organisations, particularly within the resources sector, you'll drive business development, build strategic client relationships, and create opportunities that help organisations transform their workforce, leadership and operating models.

You will be responsible for identifying and converting new opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and positioning EY as the leading advisor on workforce and organisational transformation. Drawing on your expertise across people, culture, workforce, leadership and transformation, you will work closely with senior executives to solve complex business challenges while contributing to the growth and strategic direction of the People Consulting practice.

This is a hybrid role based in Boorloo – Perth (preferred) or Meanjin – Brisbane.

Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Practice growth and market leadership: Drive the growth of EY's People Consulting practice by developing go-to-market strategies, building market presence, identifying emerging client needs, and creating opportunities across workforce, leadership, culture, change, organisation design, HR transformation and future of work.
  • Business development and sales leadership: Lead opportunity identification, pursuit and conversion activities. Build a strong pipeline of work, develop compelling client propositions, lead proposals and negotiations, and contribute to revenue growth across priority accounts and target markets.
  • Executive relationship management: Develop trusted advisor relationships with C-suite and senior business leaders. Understand client priorities and challenges, proactively bringing insights and solutions that create measurable business value.
  • Account expansion: Identify opportunities to deepen and broaden EY's footprint within existing clients by connecting capabilities across Consulting, Tax, Strategy & Transactions, Risk and Assurance to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Thought leadership and market impact: Represent EY in the market through industry forums, networking events, client roundtables and thought leadership initiatives. Contribute to building EY's brand and reputation as a market leader in workforce and organisational transformation.
  • People and practice leadership: Coach and develop high-performing consulting teams, foster collaboration across service lines, and contribute to capability building, recruitment and the overall success of the People Consulting practice.
  • Engagement oversight: Provide strategic direction and executive oversight across client engagements, ensuring high-quality delivery, strong commercial outcomes and adherence to EY's risk and quality requirements.

Skills And Attributes For Success

  • Proven success in business development, account management and revenue growth within a Big4 consulting, professional services or a related advisory environment.
  • Strong networks across the resources, energy, government or broader WA market, with demonstrated ability to develop executive-level relationships and generate new business opportunities.
  • Experience leading discussions with senior stakeholders on workforce transformation, organisational effectiveness, leadership, culture, change management, talent strategy and future workforce challenges.
  • Commercial acumen, including opportunity qualification, deal shaping, proposal development, pricing and commercial negotiations.
  • A strong understanding of contemporary workforce and organisational issues, including digital transformation, AI adoption, workforce planning, skills-based organisations and leadership effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and bring together diverse capabilities to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with executive and board-level stakeholders.
  • A growth mindset, strong market presence and passion for developing people, clients and the broader practice.

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Experience in Big4 consulting, professional services or industry leadership roles, with significant client-facing and business development responsibilities.
