This position is a technical role which is a resource to the case management staff in long-term disability claims.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor Long-term Disability (LTD) case managers

  • Inspire remote team to achieve their potential through candid feedback

  • Creatively tackle sophisticated claim issues

  • Establish and cultivate internal and external partnerships

  • Foster a continuous improvement with focus on our values

  • Address critical issues immediately and thoroughly

  • Participate in various agile initiatives.

  • Develop and monitor case management plans for disability claims by weighing multiple subjective variables

  • Coach and mentor Disability Case Managers (utilizing and understanding data) to help drive outcomes

  • Handle contentious, complex claims (including all levels of appeals) and various projects

  • Monitor service level agreement

  • Participate in meetings with plan sponsors as required

  • Strengthen customer relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of Disability Claims experience

  • A University degree in Health Sciences, or related experience is an asset

  • In-depth knowledge of disability practices, procedures, and group benefits

  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology/management/pharmacology

  • HIAA/ICA/LOMA designation or enrollment is an asset

  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with audiences

  • Experience in technical training and development of staff

  • Previous experience in organizing and facilitating project work

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational skills and very detail oriented

  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines and work under pressure

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Proven team player
