Discovery Paralegal

Career Consulting Partners is proud to partner with a well-established boutique law firm serving clients throughout Southern California. We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Paralegal who lives in discovery. This is a substantive litigation paralegal role, not a legal assistant position: roughly 95% of the work is propounding and responding to written discovery. The ideal candidate can take a discovery assignment from start to finish with minimal handholding, from drafting the requests and responses to tracking deadlines and preparing meet-and-confer correspondence.

Work Arrangement: Because the work is almost entirely discovery-driven, candidates with 4 - 8 years of experience will be considered for a fully remote arrangement. Less experienced candidates will start on a hybrid 3-in / 2-out schedule and may be considered for fully remote once they have acclimated to the firm’s workflow.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Independently draft and serve written discovery, including form and special interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission, in compliance with California procedures and deadlines.

  • Analyze incoming discovery, coordinate document collection with clients, and prepare thorough, well-supported responses and objections.

  • Draft meet-and-confer letters and assist with motions to compel, motions for protective orders, and related discovery motions.

  • File discovery-related documents with the court, calendar and track all deadlines, and maintain organized, accessible discovery files.

  • Support attorneys in developing case strategy across business, real estate, probate/trust, and landlord-tenant matters

Qualifications:

  • 4 - 8 years of experience as a litigation paralegal with a hands-on emphasis on propounding and responding to discovery.

  • Comfortable drafting discovery independently, not just formatting or finalizing attorney drafts.

  • Experience in civil discovery, case management, and law and motion.

  • Familiarity with federal and California state discovery rules and procedures.

  • Experience with e-discovery platforms and software.

  • Real estate, business, and probate/trust background a plus.

  • Self-directed and reliable working remotely, with a quiet, dedicated workspace.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation Range: $80,000 - $100,000

  • 401k match up to 4%

  • PTO, Sick Leave

Location:

  • Glendale, CA

  • Remote and Hybrid
