Job Title: Distribution Designer or Engineer (Remote) Job Description This remote Distribution Designer or Engineer role focuses on providing distribution design support for utility projects across multiple regions, including Houston, the Valley, and Louisiana. You will use industry-standard tools to design and convert overhead and underground distribution systems while collaborating with project teams through virtual and occasional in-office meetings. Responsibilities Perform detailed distribution design for power delivery projects using industry-standard design platforms. Develop and update distribution engineering drawings and models in AutoCAD and other designated design tools. Support overhead to underground (OH to UG) conversion projects, ensuring accurate and compliant designs. Utilize Maximo to manage, track, and update work orders and project-related data. Apply engineering principles to create safe, reliable, and efficient electrical distribution designs. Collaborate with project stakeholders to clarify design requirements and resolve technical issues. Prepare and maintain design documentation, including drawings, reports, and supporting calculations as required. Coordinate with team members to support distribution projects for multiple utility clients across different geographic areas. Participate in project meetings, including occasional travel to the office for in-person collaboration. Ensure all designs align with applicable standards, guidelines, and client specifications for distribution engineering and power delivery. Essential Skills Minimum of 3+ years of distribution design experience utilizing designated distribution design tools such as the Distribution Design Studio or GDT. Minimum of 2+ years of overall design experience in electrical or distribution engineering. Hands-on experience with overhead to underground (OH to UG) conversion projects. Proficiency with AutoCAD for creating and modifying distribution design drawings. Experience working within Maximo for work order and asset management in a utility or distribution environment. Strong background in distribution engineering, power distribution, and power delivery. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. Ability to interpret and apply utility design standards and engineering guidelines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical design work. Effective communication skills to collaborate with remote and in-person project teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using Distribution Design Studio for utility distribution projects. Familiarity with GDT or similar geographic design tools used in distribution engineering. background supporting projects for large electric utilities or similar power delivery clients. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a remote work setting. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve design and coordination issues efficiently. Comfort working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and project management. Interest in ongoing professional development in power distribution and utility design tools. Work Environment This is a primarily remote position that offers flexibility to work from home while supporting distribution projects across multiple regions. You will collaborate with project teams through virtual communication tools and will occasionally travel to the office for project meetings and in-person coordination.
