We are seeking a Distribution Engineer, Intake, a strategic thinker who can take initiatives from concept to completion and engineer the way to a smart energy future.

JOB SUMMARY


Reporting to the Supervisor, Distribution Intake, the Distribution Engineer, Intake serves as the technical liaison during project initiation, providing expertise and support to the Design Intake team with technical triage, scoping, and customer response. This role ensures technical accuracy and initial engineering integrity of all documentation prior to transitioning projects from initiation to design. The Distribution Engineer, Intake analyzes and maps present-state and future-state workflows, collaborating with cross-divisional partners to standardize intake responses and associated service levels. Additionally, the role prepares, updates, and maintains design guidelines in collaboration with the Design and Standards department, serving as a core technical anchor for implementing the Hydro Ottawa Project Delivery Model across various engineering sub-disciplines.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide and support the Design Intake team with technical triage, scoping, and customer response, ensuring project documentation is technically sound, compliant, and complete prior to transitioning to design.
  • Analyze, document, and map present-state and future-state engineering workflows to optimize and standardize the intake process.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-divisional partners to standardize technical intake responses and associated service levels.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain comprehensive design guideline documentation in direct consultation with Design and Standards.
  • Serve as the technical expert and cornerstone for embedding and governing the Project Delivery Model (PDM) across various engineering sub-disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance, engineering support, and recommendations to internal teams, external customers, and project partners during the scoping and initiation project phases.
  • Facilitate continuous process improvement initiatives to streamline project transitions from intake to design.
  • Lead and participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, or able to be licensed in the province of Ontario
  • Demonstrated knowledge of distribution system design, engineering practices, and standards
  • Strong time management, organization, and communication skills required
  • Experience in process mapping, workflow documentation, or Lean Six Sigma frameworks considered an asset
  • Experience in an electric utility or utility standards environment considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably Google Workspace
  • Strong understanding of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs, with Salesforce experience considered an asset

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • English essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset

This is a management group opportunity. The annual salary range for this position identified below depends on experience, education, and professional designation. The successful candidate will be offered a salary within this range based on their qualifications.

Pay Range Minimum:

$89,420.99

Pay Range Maximum:

$134,130.81
