Position overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking to fill the position of DOC OAEVS Coordinator of Career and Technical Education. In this position, our candidate will serve as a manager in the statewide Career and Technical Education program. Duties of this position include developing information and knowledge base concerning funding and budgetary concerns as they relate to Career and Technical Education and keeping abreast of legal considerations including state and federal laws as they relate to Career and Technical Education programs within IDOC. Additionally, this position prepares and submits grant applications for funding (including Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Perkins), and all requisite reports according to ICCB timelines, monitors and facilitates appropriate expenditures related to Career and Technical Education and adult education grants and serves as primary liaison in contract monitoring and resolving problems or concerns with the CTE and college program and vendors. Essential Functions
- Coordinates statewide Career and Technical Education programming
- Prepares and submits funding applications related to Career and Technical Education and adult education programming that has the potential of providing services and funding to the Department
- Conducts compliance visits of Adult Education and Career and Technical Education Services programs
- Monitors all college contracts including quarterly meetings with college coordinators to address concerns, amendments, vacancies, etc
- Develops, plans and implements, as well as attends professional meetings as they relate to Career and Technical Education programming within the Department
- Serves as full line supervisor.
- Completes annual reports for the Adult Education Manager in relation to education concerns as needed by central office
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in education, social science or closely related field
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in adult education
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers the possession of a Masters Degree in Education or similar field with a Professional Educator License with a General Administrative, Type 75, or Principal Endorsement
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating adult education programming
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience managing and working within an operational budget
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience preparing, submitting, and managing educational grant funding
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience measuring the effectiveness and meeting compliance goals of educational grants
- Prefers working knowledge of educational programs within a correctional setting
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience as a supervisor
- Prefers working knowledge of federal and state educational laws and regulations
Conditions of Employment

- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s licens
