Company Description
Dolphin Claims Services (Singapore) Pte. Ltd, the Singapore branch of Dolphin Maritime & Aviation Services Ltd, established in 1960, provides specialised and independent support in marine, aviation and inland transport cargo claims.
The company delivers reliable and cost-effective solutions to cargo underwriters worldwide, assisting with claims settlement, claims recovery, casualty matters, including General Average and Salvage, and hull claims.
We help insurers manage their claims exposure by ensuring that claims are properly investigated, policy coverage is correctly applied, losses are accurately quantified, and recoveries from responsible third parties are maximised.
Dolphin maintains a high level of service to underwriters and their assureds at competitive fee scales. The company also frequently operates on a no-cure-no-pay contingency basis, aligning its success with the outcomes achieved for its clients.
Role Description
The role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Singapore, with flexibility for some work from home.
The role involves handling and managing marine cargo and hull claims from initial notification through to resolution. This includes assessing policy liability, evaluating claim documentation and coordinating with insurers, assureds, claimants, surveyors, lawyers, carriers and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will work with a close-knit team to investigate losses, gather and analyse evidence, negotiate settlements and support claims recovery efforts, including matters involving General Average and Salvage.
Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, preparing clear and concise reports, ensuring timely communication with clients and service providers, and contributing to the continuous improvement of claims processes and client service.
Qualifications
• Professional working proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required, as English is the main working language for the position. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese would be an advantage, as the role involves correspondence with some insurers, claimants, surveyors and other service providers who communicate in Mandarin, as well as the review of Chinese-language claims documentation.
• Applicants must already have the right to work in Singapore and must not require employer visa sponsorship, either now or in the future. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to review complex claim documentation, interpret policy terms and assess liability and recovery prospects.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in claims handling or claims management, preferably within marine or transport insurance, including end-to-end case management.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to provide responsive and professional support to underwriters, assureds and other stakeholders.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and correspondence and negotiate settlements.
• Knowledge of marine insurance principles, cargo claims and casualty matters, including General Average and Salvage, is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work accurately under time pressure, manage multiple cases and maintain close attention to detail.
• A willingness to support occasional urgent after-hours/weekend matters where necessary.
• Ability to work effectively under a hybrid working arrangement, including collaboration in the Singapore office and independent work from home.
• Relevant professional experience in insurance, shipping, law or a related field. Formal qualifications in law, insurance, maritime studies or a related discipline would be an advantage.
