Domestic and Sexual Abuse Specialist Tutor - Apprenticeships

Salary: £31,000- £32,000 per annum (depending on sector experience)

Location : Remote

Main Purpose of Role

To deliver the Level 4 Domestic and Sexual Abuse Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard through robust, high quality training and assessment methods.

Key Accountabilities

To deliver dynamic and engaging teaching sessions across the sector which will enable the candidate to effectively progress on their apprenticeship, generate evidence against requirements and successfully achieve EPA.

To develop and create training materials for online or face to face delivery using the apprenticeship standard and Pier Training delivery plans.

To carry out assessments of candidates in accordance with awarding body requirements and keep up to date and accurate records on OneFile.

To attend relevant employer and sector groups to raise the profile of the provision.

To support the recruitment and onboarding process for acquiring appropriate candidates in the workplace and ensure that initial assessment is carried out.

To ensure the review and Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is completed, updated and maintained for all candidates on your caseload.

To closely monitor learner progress to ensure timely completion of qualifications, apprenticeships, develop portfolios, and support the embedding of functional skills.

To act as an advocate in resolving problems between apprentices and employers appropriate and keep employers updated on learner progress.

Update learner files to reflect achievements, including the updating of tracking spreadsheets.

Through the review process, set and monitor training targets that effectively link to on and off-the-job training and the self-assessment and milestone tracker.

To ensure quality of the assessment process is maintained by working with Internal Quality Assurers and attending regular standardisation meetings.

To keep accurate records of learner attendance and progress which are regularly shared with the relevant employer.

To attend internal team and other meetings as required.

To understand Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework and the importance of the key areas of delivery i.e. ‘Quality of Education.’

To understand the Education and Skills Funding Agency minimum requirements for delivering apprenticeships.

To be committed to understanding and adhering to Pier Training’s policies and procedure

General Duties

Ensure the quality standards and performance measures applying to the work of the section are met and facilitate continuous improvements in all aspects of the post.

Undergo any self-development and training as necessary for success in the role.

Incorporate into the role, the philosophy, values and behaviour stated in Pier Training mission and strategic plans.

Promote within Pier Training, a positive approach to security and discipline. Undertake any other responsibilities that senior management representative may from time to time require.

Appointment to this post is subject to Pier Training receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment.

A Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) will be completed for all successful applicants. DBS costs will be waived; however, it is a requirement that successful applicants must enrol for the DBS Update Service within two weeks. A small annual fee of £13 per year applies

ESSENTIALS:

• Relevant qualification or equivalent to Diploma/ NVQ level 4 or equivalent work level experience.
• Teaching and assessing qualifications (TAQA, D32,33).
• A minimum GCSE grade 9-4 / A-C in English and maths or equivalent (Functional Skills level 2).
• Experience and knowledge of safeguarding adults and children.
• In-depth experience supporting adult and children who have been
• subjected to domestic abuse and/or sexual violence on 1:1 or group work basis.

Relevant Experience and Attributes

• A minimum of 3 years working within the sector as a specialist Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence and/or Child Specialist support worker.
• Experience and competency of delivering training within the sector with a minimum of two years in training / or tutoring.
• Excellent subject knowledge.
• A working knowledge of IDVA, CYPDASW and ISVA workers
• Experience, skills and aptitude of working creatively and proactively with a range of sector partners within the public, private, voluntary or community sector organisations.
• Experience and competency of working with multi-disciplinary teams
• Knowledge and implementation of evidence-based approaches and practice linked to the sector
• Knowledge of the concepts and theories relating to applying trauma informed, person-centred practice and needs-led approaches
• Knowledge of domestic abuse informed approaches, the risk and protection factors surrounding families experiencing domestic violence and abuse
• An understanding and knowledge of methods of assessing, formulating, implementing, recording, reviewing and auditing service users’ support and safety assessment plans
• Knowledge and understanding of referral systems and mechanisms
• Knowledge and understanding of local and regional policies relating to homelessness and options available to access safe accommodation
• Knowledge of legal, financial, voluntary and statutory support services
• A working knowledge of civil and criminal sanctions and court orders relating to the sector
• Excellent communicator both orally and on paper, including the ability to speak fluent English with clarity.
• Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and how to implement policy in practice.​
• A good understanding of the needs of marginalised and minority groups who have been affected by domestic violence, including non British citizens e.g. those with no-recourse to public funds.
• Know and understand how to use Microsoft Office applications such as SharePoint, Excel, Word and Teams
• Able to use web conferencing software for delivering training remotely, such a Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
• Familiar with using CANVA to create training materials
• To maintain a Personal Development Plan
• An awareness and understanding of the apprenticeship standard and assessment plan for ‘Domestic and Sexual Abuse Support Worker’
• A thorough understanding of differing assessment methods
• The ability to work with requirements of qualification and training awarding bodies.
• Awareness of current developments in awards, qualifications and standards including Ofsted and ESFA compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Proven track record of delivering functional skills English and maths.
• Good organisation and administrative abilities.
• An enthusiasm for all aspects of 16+ education and a commitment to the well-being of students.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Educated to degree level standard: E.g., BSc (Hons) Understanding Domestic and Sexual Violence MA/PG Cert/PG Dip
• A recognised qualification in counselling
• D34 A/V qualification
• A teaching qualification (Cert Ed/Diploma)
• Proven track record of training independent domestic violence advisors, children and young people advisors and sexual violence advisors
