Donor Engagement Manager

We are a global nonprofit dedicated to empowering micro-entrepreneurs in low- and middle-income countries — pairing aspiring business owners with trained mentors and the financial tools they need to build something lasting. Operating across 30+ countries with 12 global offices, we served more than 43,000 families last year. Our donors make all of it possible — and this role exists to make sure they know it. The Opportunity Mentors International is entering a new phase of growth, and the relationships we build with our donor community here in Utah will fuel it. As Donor Engagement Manager, you will play a critical role in strengthening and expanding our network of supporters — building a robust donor community through powerful engagement, world-class stewardship, and genuine personal connection. This is a people-first role. You will be the primary face of Mentors International to our generous supporters — showing up consistently, listening well, and ensuring every donor feels truly connected to the families their giving serves around the world. Most of your time should be spent away from your desk, meaningfully engaging with our Utah donor community, growing our network in other states, and building something bigger than any single campaign or event. This is a full-time, remote position but you must be located in the Greater Salt Lake City Metro Area . Occasional international travel may be required. You will report to Mentors International's VP of Growth. Whether it is verifying data in donor reports or proofreading a personal thank-you note, you sweat the small stuff because every touchpoint reflects the organization's credibility. Data-Informed Strategist: You possess a strong understanding of leveraging data to make informed decisions and accurately measure the success of your efforts. What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities) Strategic Growth Develop and execute strategies to build a robust and engaged community that fosters a deep emotional connection to our mission to ultimately grow our donor base, improve retention, and achieve the organization’s ambitious growth goals Design and implement recurring donor strategies to build a predictable revenue engine Partner with marketing to optimize email lifecycles, campaigns, and donor-facing content Donor Stewardship & Relationship Management Support the CEO and VP of Growth in maintaining regular, meaningful touchpoints with top donors with a high-touch, account-manager approach to engagement Deliver personalized donor stewardship reports, created by the Development Operations Coordinator, that connects giving to real impact in the field Oversee all stewardship initiatives, including donor impact reports, tax acknowledgments, and personalized thank-you notes Donor Cultivation & Event Management Lead all planning and execution of the annual gala, Mentors International's flagship fundraising and donor engagement event, with a focus on expanding attendance and new donor acquisition Proactively identify and cultivate prospective donors in Utah and beyond through personalized outreach and systematic reactivation of lapsed supporters Plan and execute cottage meetings, lunch and learns, and other intimate cultivation events designed to introduce new audiences to the organization Develop and implement a volunteer strategy to leverage the time and talents of our supporters. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required 3+ years of experience in community building, donor relations, fundraising, or development roles, ideally with non-profit organizations Excellent interpersonal skills, warm, energetic, credible, and genuinely curious about people Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate the organization's mission and impact to diverse audiences Ability to think big while also executing tactically in a lean organization Experience planning and executing events, from intimate gatherings to large-scale fundraisers Proficiency with CRM systems and donor database management Passion for international development, entrepreneurship, or educational programs Preferred Qualifications Prior nonprofit major gift or moves management experience Existing relationships within Utah's philanthropic and civic community Familiarity with donor cultivation best practices and recurring giving strategies Experience with or openness to international program travel Commitment to Equal Opportunity Mentors International is an equal-opportunity employer.
