The Position
Job title: Graduate Health Data Analyst
Location: Burgess Hill, West Sussex (hybrid)
Length of programme: 2 years (September 2027 - August 2029)
Our Early in Career Development Programme accelerates your growth to directly impact patients' lives. Start your career with a UK market leader in biotechnology, recognised as the #1 Best Big Company to Work For (2021) and dedicated to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The Opportunity
The Access & Innovation team works to demonstrate and enable the value of diagnostics for patients and the UK NHS. Within the team, Health Economics uses clinical, economic and real-world evidence to understand NHS patient pathways, demonstrate value and support healthcare decision-making. As a Graduate Health Data Analyst, you will analyse healthcare data to identify gaps and inequalities in care, helping shape improvements to NHS pathways that could enable earlier diagnosis, better access to care and improved outcomes for patients. Alongside this, you will develop skills in real-world evidence, clinical study development, health economics and market access. Throughout the two-year programme, you will benefit from ongoing support and development opportunities, gaining exposure to projects across Access & Innovation while building both technical and broader healthcare strategy skills.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse UK healthcare datasets, including Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) data, disease registries, national clinical audits and other NHS datasets, to identify trends, variations in care and opportunities to improve patient pathways.
- Support the design and delivery of real-world evidence studies, including defining clinical and health economic outcomes, prospective data collection and retrospective analysis of existing healthcare databases and registries.
- Use analytical tools such as R to clean, analyse and interpret healthcare data.
- Develop clear data visualisations, dashboards and pathway maps using tools such as Power BI and R Shiny, while exploring how digital and AI-enabled tools can support evidence generation.
- Generate data insights to support health economic analyses, NHS business cases and access strategies, helping demonstrate the value of diagnostics to patients and healthcare systems.
- Collaborate with teams across Health Economics, Market Access and the wider Access & Innovation function.
Who are you
To be successful in this opportunity, applicants should also have:
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Statistics, Medical Sciences, Epidemiology or Health Economics. We welcome candidates from a range of academic backgrounds who can demonstrate strong practical data analysis skills or the potential to develop these.
- Some practical experience using R or another statistical programming language for data analysis, with knowledge of SQL or database querying desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with confidence working with data and quantitative information.
- Strong attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex findings clearly.
- Curious, collaborative and motivated to develop new skills, with an interest in healthcare, real-world evidence and applying digital and AI technologies to improve healthcare decision-making.
