The Opportunity
High-quality curriculum depends on content that is clear, accurate, consistent, and thoughtfully produced. Lavinia Group, a division of K12 Coalition, is seeking an Editorial Manager to help ensure our curriculum and supporting materials meet high standards for editorial quality and provide educators and students with an exceptional experience.
This role will have a particular focus on math curriculum, combining strong editorial expertise with an understanding of K-12 mathematics content. The Editorial Manager plays a key role throughout the editorial and production process, partnering with internal and external contributors to ensure materials are accurate, accessible, consistent, and ready for use in classrooms.
The Editorial Manager reports to Senior Director, Curriculum Production and Development.
What You’ll Do
Editorial Quality & Content Management

Oversee editorial processes for Lavinia Group curriculum throughout all stages of development and production, with a particular focus on math curriculum and instructional materials

Maintain high standards for writing, editorial style, formatting, consistency, and accuracy across curriculum materials

Review and evaluate edited materials for clarity, concision, consistency, accuracy, and adherence to established editorial standards

Identify content, formatting, and editorial inconsistencies within and across projects and develop solutions to address them

Apply and uphold the Lavinia Group style guide consistently while exercising sound editorial judgment when needed
-
Review math content with attention to the accurate and consistent presentation of mathematical language, notation, terminology, equations, visuals, and other instructional elements

Incorporate feedback and revisions to continuously strengthen the quality and usability of curriculum materials

Use AI-enabled tools thoughtfully and appropriately to support editorial workflows, improve efficiency, and strengthen content quality while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and sound editorial judgment.
Editorial Collaboration & Feedback

Partner with writers, designers, copyeditors, proofreaders, and other internal and external contributors to maintain editorial alignment and quality throughout the development process

Provide clear, actionable feedback to contributors to strengthen content and ensure consistency across materials

Communicate effectively across teams to clarify expectations, resolve editorial questions, and support efficient decision-making
Project Execution

Manage editorial work across multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality
-
Exercise independent judgment and decision-making to identify and resolve editorial and production challenges
-
Contribute to an iterative development process that includes drafting, review, feedback, revision, and production
-
Work effectively and independently in a remote, collaborative environment
Other Duties
-
Support the team with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to help meet evolving organizational goals and objectives.

3+ years of experience in editorial work, publishing, content development, curriculum development at a national curriculum company
-
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Publishing, Education, Mathematics, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience managing complex projects, processes, or workflows from development through completion

Strong writing, editing, copyediting, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated attention to clarity, consistency, and accuracy

Experience editing or reviewing math, mathematics education, or other technical or quantitative content

Knowledge of K-12 mathematics content, curriculum, or instruction
-
Ability to review mathematical language, notation, terminology, and visual representations for accuracy and consistency
-
Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain quality across multiple projects and materials
-
Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and collaborate effectively with writers, designers, editors, and other contributors
-
Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
-
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and effectively navigate an iterative development environment
-
Comfort using AI-enabled tools to support editorial and content development workflows, with the ability to evaluate outputs for accuracy, quality, and appropriate use.

Experience with K-12 math curriculum or instructional materials preferred
