The Opportunity
AmuGreen & MyGug are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Education Outreach
Officer to help build and grow the MyGug in Schools programme across Ireland.
This is a career-building opportunity for a graduate who wants to develop a career at the
intersection of education, sustainability, climate technology and the emerging
bioeconomy.
You will play a key role in helping schools use MyGug as a practical learning platform —
turning food waste into an opportunity to explore renewable energy, biology, agriculture,
engineering, horticulture, food systems, sustainability and the circular economy.
As the programme develops, there will be significant opportunity for the successful
candidate to take increasing responsibility for the programme, develop new education
initiatives, build partnerships and progress within AmuGreen & MyGug.
The Education Outreach Officer will:
• Build strong relationships with schools, teachers, student groups and education
communities.
• Support schools in integrating MyGug into teaching and learning.
• Deliver workshops and practical learning sessions for teachers and students.
• Develop lesson plans, education packs, projects and practical activities around
MyGug.
• Support the use of MyGug across subjects including Agricultural Science, Biology,
Engineering/STEM, Home Economics, Horticulture and
Sustainability/Environmental Studies.
• Help schools develop school-wide food waste, circular economy and
sustainability projects.
• Support teachers in using MyGug for project-based and cross-curricular learning.
• Develop and share best practice across participating schools.
• Collect feedback and measure the educational and environmental impact of the
programme.
• Represent AmuGreen & MyGug at relevant education, sustainability and climate
events.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the MyGug in Schools programme
nationally.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a person who is committed to positive climate action, is energetic,
responsive, has strong communication skills, is highly organised and passionate about
creating positive environmental change through education.
Education
Level 8 degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as :
• Education - Primary,Secondary
• Environmental Science / Sustainability
• Science / Biology
• Agricultural Science
• Engineering / STEM
• Horticulture
• Environmental Studies
• Other relevant science, education or sustainability disciplines
Experience & Skills
Some experience in education, outreach, community engagement, STEM education or
environmental programmes is highly desirable.
Experience or confidence in working with the following is desirable :
• Groups of students
• Teacher teams
• Schools and education communities
• Community or stakeholder groups
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to explain technical and scientific concepts with ease
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence working with different groups and stakeholders.
• Ability to develop engaging educational content.
• Strong organisational and project-management skills.
• Initiative, creativity and a willingness to take responsibility.
• Genuine interest in sustainability, climate action and the bioeconomy.
• Willingness to travel to schools throughout Ireland.
What We Offer
Fixed Contract
This is an opportunity to join a growing climate-tech and education initiative at an exciting
stage of development.
You will gain practical experience across education outreach, programme development,
climate technology, sustainability, stakeholder engagement and the bioeconomy.
Salary: €25,000–€32,000 starting salary commensurate with experience. Strong potential
for salary scaling and transition to permanent position as the MyGug in Schools
programme grows.
This position offers a hybrid work structure requiring a blend of remote work and scheduled on-site days nationwide. Candidate can be resident anywhere in Ireland. Closing date for receipt of applications - 28th August 2026 5pm.
