About the Team
The Education Quality Assurance Team plays a vital role in ensuring nursing, midwifery and nursing associate education programmes across the UK meet the standards required to prepare safe and effective professionals for registration.
Working closely with approved education institutions (AEIs), practice learning partners and key stakeholders, the team provides proactive quality assurance support, guidance and oversight to help providers develop, deliver and continuously improve high-quality education programmes.
The team acts as the primary relationship holder for universities and works collaboratively with colleagues across Education Monitoring and Education Concerns to identify risks, share intelligence and ensure education providers continue to meet regulatory standards. Together, these teams help protect the public by promoting excellence in healthcare education.
Your Role and Impact
As an Education Quality Assurance Officer, you will be the key relationship lead for a portfolio of approved education institutions within a designated region of the UK.
You will work proactively with universities and education providers, helping them understand and implement our standards, supporting programme approvals and modifications, and ensuring they have the guidance and tools required to deliver high-quality education.
Often described as the "front door" to education quality assurance, this role combines relationship management, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement and regulatory decision-making. You will build trusted relationships with providers while exercising sound judgement when reviewing programme proposals, assessing evidence and identifying emerging risks.
In this role, you will:
- Manage relationships with a portfolio of approved education institutions across your allocated region.
- Act as the primary point of contact for universities, providing advice and guidance on standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support programme approvals, modifications and ongoing quality assurance activities.
- Review documentation and evidence to determine whether programmes meet regulatory expectations.
- Analyse intelligence, information and assurance data to identify emerging risks, themes and trends.
- Exercise delegated authority to make recommendations and support decisions relating to educational quality and programme delivery.
- Produce reports, recommendations and briefing materials to support governance and decision-making processes.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across education, policy, communications and regulatory functions.
- Support providers to improve educational quality and student experiences.
- Contribute to the development of guidance, resources and improvements that enhance quality assurance activity across the sector.
We are recruiting for three positions covering the following patches.
- Scotland and East of England
- Wales and Northwest England
- London and Southeast England
Candidates should indicate their preferred region as part of their application.
As the role involves building strong relationships with providers and undertaking visits where required, regular travel throughout your allocated region forms an important part of the role. We welcome applications from candidates based across the UK and recognise the value of regional knowledge and experience of local higher education systems.
What You Will Bring
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about educational quality, relationship management and public protection.
You will bring:
- Experience working within higher education, quality assurance, healthcare, regulation, professional standards, compliance or a related environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with a diverse range of partners.
- Experience interpreting and applying standards, frameworks, policies or regulatory requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to make accurate, evidence-based decisions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, themes and opportunities for improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex environment.
- Sound judgement and the ability to balance risk, quality and stakeholder needs effectively.
- A commitment to fairness, consistency, inclusion and public protection.
Experience or knowledge of nursing, midwifery, nursing associate education, healthcare education or higher education quality assurance would be particularly advantageous. However, we welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience from wider regulatory, quality assurance or professional standards environments.
