Job purpose
The Educational Liaison serves as a strategic connector between students, families, schools, and service providers, ensuring coordinated, student-centered educational support. This role advocates for equitable access to educational opportunities by facilitating clear communication, aligning resources, and promoting collaborative problem-solving across systems. Through proactive engagement and informed guidance, the Educational Liaison helps improve academic, social, and behavioral outcomes while empowering caregivers and strengthening partnerships that support each student’s success.
Duties and responsibilities
- Communication and collaboration with caregivers, service providers, and school staff.
- Schedule school meetings to obtain information on student’s academic, social, and behavioral performance.
- Collaborate with school staff to identify and plan for supports, interventions, and services that meet the students’ needs.
- Attend some Collaborative Family Meetings when education is a priority for discussion.
- Model positive partnering with schools.
- Review psychological evaluations, individual education plans, and 504s to collaborate with school staff and care-givers to ensure students’ needs are met in the educational setting.
- Collaborate and problem solve with other educational liaisons.
- Attend as scheduled Educational Liaison team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Teaching or Social Work
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in teaching or a related field
- 3-5 years in an educational leadership position or administrative position
- Have a working knowledge of educational law, including Article 7 and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills to work with a varied team of lay people and professionals.
- Strong organizational skills, self-direction, and demonstrate attention to detail.
- Must be goal-oriented, organized, and analytical, and can manage multiple priorities with skill and grace.
- Excellent written, oral, and communication skills. Superior active listening, observation, analytical, and problem recognition and solving skills. Exercise sound judgment.
- Strength of character, honesty, humor, and flexibility are necessary and important.
- Knowledge and skills in computer use.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Must have your own vehicle and be properly insured.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must live in Indiana; preference for candidates who live in central Indiana.
Working conditions
This job operates in a hybrid work environment, with the majority of work performed remotely. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Time will be spent working with children and families virtually via Zoom and Teams platforms, and also in-person in their local community, including at schools. A portion of your time will be spent in the car. Travel statewide as needed.
