Role Summary

The EHR Trainer delivers high-quality training and education to physicians and practice staff during onboarding, optimization, and ongoing support phases for MDVIP-affiliated practices using the athenaOne Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform.

This role is responsible for facilitating both onsite and virtual training sessions, ensuring practice teams are confident and competent in EHR use, workflows, and compliance with MDVIP standards. The EHR Trainer partners with Onboarding Managers, Support Analysts, and Revenue Cycle teams to assess readiness, customize training content, and reinforce best practices for documentation, patient engagement, and billing workflows.

Success in this position requires strong presentation skills, clinical workflow knowledge, and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to diverse learning styles and practice environments.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver onsite and virtual training for physicians and staff on athenaOne EHR workflows, including clinical documentation, scheduling, billing, and communication tools. 40%
  2. Conduct pre-training assessments to tailor curriculum to practice needs and experience levels. 15%
  3. Develop, update, and maintain training materials, quick reference guides, and videos. 10%
  4. Partner with Onboarding Managers to ensure practices achieve go-live readiness and user proficiency. 10%
  5. Provide reinforcement and refresher sessions post-go-live to ensure workflow adoption and compliance. 10%
  6. Document all training sessions, attendance, and follow-up actions in Salesforce. 10%
  7. Participate in pilot programs, product testing, and feedback loops with the EHR team and vendors. 5%

Performance in this role will be measured by:


Training Quality and Effectiveness

  • Average training evaluation score = 4.5 / 5 from participants
  • 100% completion of assigned training sessions within scheduled timeframes
  • Reduction in post-go-live training tickets by = 10% per quarter

Practice Readiness and Adoption

  • All assigned practices achieve go-live readiness = 2 weeks prior to target date
  • 90-day adoption metrics for core workflows (AWP, labs, orders, documentation) = 90% compliance

Documentation and Coordination

  • Training materials and checklists maintained and updated with 100% accuracy
  • Training attendance, outcomes, and follow-ups logged within 48 hours in Salesforce/Smartsheet

Professional Collaboration and Contribution

  • Active participation in team huddles, knowledge sharing, and curriculum updates
  • Minimum two process or content improvement suggestions contributed per quarter
Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Education, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience training or supporting EHR systems, preferably athenaOne.
  • Strong understanding of primary care clinical workflows, documentation processes, and front/back office operations.
  • Experience conducting both in-person and virtual trainings in healthcare or software environments.
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel.
