Electrical Designer

The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD experience, an understanding of electrical utility design, and a desire to learn and develop within the organization. Candidates with experience in overhead, underground, electrical utility, or telecommunications design are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Develop utility designs for overhead and underground electrical distribution projects. Create and maintain design drawings using AutoCAD. Build project designs from existing plans and base maps through final design completion. Prepare and update base mapping for utility projects. Assist with residential, commercial, and subdivision utility design projects. Support overhead-to-underground conversion projects. Coordinate with project managers, QA/QC personnel, and internal design teams. Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word for project documentation and reporting. Ensure designs meet company, client, and utility standards. Essential Skills Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, especially in attributes and base mapping. Minimum of 6 months experience working with electrical systems for utilities or telecommunications. Experience with MS Office. Additional Skills & Qualifications Exposure to electrical or utilities experience. Knowledge in design, drafting, electrical design, and electrical engineering. Work Environment The work schedule is flexible from Monday to Friday, between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM, allowing for an 8-hour workday with flexible start and end times. The position offers a hybrid work model with four days in the office and one day remote per week. Team structure includes a Director of T&D Operations, QA/QC Manager, Designer II, three Internal Designers, and a Project Manager. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
