Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Lead, Data Centers to join our growing Canadian Data Center team.

This individual will lead the electrical design and delivery of hyperscale, colocation, and other mission-critical facilities throughout North America and globally. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader, client advisor, mentor, and project contributor, helping to grow AECOM's rapidly expanding Data Center practice. This is a newly created position.

This position can be performed remotely from anywhere in Canada with periodic travel for client meetings, project milestones, site visits, and team collaboration activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for hyperscale and mission-critical data center facilities.
• Develop design criteria, basis-of-design documentation, and electrical engineering standards.
• Lead medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution system design.
• Design and evaluate standby generation, UPS, and emergency power systems.
• Perform load analyses, capacity planning, power system modeling, and system optimization studies.
• Develop and maintain engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documentation.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables and technical submissions.
• Act as Engineer of Record where applicable.
• Ensure compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA standards, provincial regulations, and applicable industry standards.
• Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams across Canada and globally.
• Support business development activities, proposals, and client presentations.
• Lead technical discussions with clients, contractors, utilities, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Develop engineering budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
• Drive technical excellence, innovation, and quality across projects.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while contributing to practice growth.

• Experience with Uptime Institute standards and mission-critical design principles.
• Experience supporting projects across multiple provinces and jurisdictions.
• Experience working on international data center programs.
• Demonstrated success developing and mentoring high-performing technical teams.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in a Canadian province.
• Minimum 8 (eight) years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering design projects.
• Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable industry standards.
• Strong communication, leadership, and client management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• 5 years of experience supporting mission-critical, data center, or other critical facility projects.
• Extensive hyperscale, colocation, or mission-critical facility experience.
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record.
• Medium-voltage distribution design experience.
• Utility coordination and interconnection experience.
• Arc flash, short-circuit, and protection coordination study experience.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or equivalent power system analysis software.
• Experience with Revit, ACC, BIM 360, or other digital delivery platforms.
• Design-build project delivery experience.
• Commissioning and startup support experience.
• Strong business development and pursuit support experience.
• Experience leading client relationships on large, complex projects.

• Remote work arrangement available anywhere in Canada.
• Periodic travel is required for client meetings, project milestones, site visits, and business development activities.
