BILT Incorporated

Job Title: Electrical Localization Subject Matter Expert - NIGERIA

Department: BILT Education/Content Development

Supports: BILT Global Brand Support Center, Grapevine, Texas 76051

Reports To: Program Manager, BILT Education

Type: Contract

Location: Remote — Nigeria

Overview

BILT Incorporated is a fast-growing software-as-a-service company revolutionizing instructions and training for consumers and professional technicians alike. BILT creates official 3D Intelligent Instructions® for thousands of products from hundreds of innovative brands and hosts them on a free mobile app. Users can manipulate interactive animations on a touchscreen, providing a superior training differentiator for products that require assembly, installation, maintenance, programming, or repair. BILT’s mission is to create an experience so enabling and empowering that it turns users into promoters of the brands we serve.

BILT transforms complex assembly, installation, training, and maintenance processes into interactive 3D guided experiences. BILT partners with leading manufacturers, retailers, and enterprise organizations to reduce support costs, improve customer experience, accelerate onboarding, and drive operational efficiency through immersive visual instruction technology.

About the Job

BILT is expanding its electrical workforce curriculum beyond the United States, and we need a licensed Nigerian electrician who can make that content accurate for Nigeria. This role is for a hands-on field professional who can review existing US-based instructional content and adapt it — technically, procedurally, and in terminology — to Nigerian standards and practice.

Working alongside our content designers and instructional team, you will localize nine existing projects, validate them against local code, assist with the BILT design and quality assurance process, and sign off that a Nigerian technician can genuinely follow them. Teaching experience is a plus, but not required.

Assignment

BILT has previously contracted US-based Subject Matter Experts to create nine (9) BILT electrical projects built on US NCCER standards and the US National Electrical Code (NEC). The Electrical Localization Subject Matter Expert (“Localization SME”) should hold current NEMSA certification as electrical installation personnel/contractor — or an equivalent recognized Nigerian credential — with approximately 5–10 years of field experience, engaged to adapt that existing US content to Nigerian country standards.

The Localization SME will review each of the nine (9) projects and localize the technical information, step-by-step outlines, instructions/text, diagrams, code citations, and terminology so the content is accurate and compliant for Nigeria. The Localization SME will meet remotely 1-3 times weekly with the BILT design team over Teams or Zoom to provide SME technical guidance and feedback, participate in quality control, and sign off on each localized product, and will also consult BILT with industry knowledge and participate in relevant strategy and business-plan conversations where applicable. All knowledge transfer and deliverables will be under NDA and will be the sole Intellectual Property of BILT.

The Deliverables shall begin upon the effective date. All content will be stored in a shared folder — including documentation, drawings, videos, recordings, and transcripts — and handed off to BILT based on goals and timelines mutually agreed upon.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert for the Nigerian localization of nine (9) existing BILT electrical projects originally built on US NCCER standards and the US National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Localize technical information, step-by-step outlines, instructions and on-screen text, diagrams, code citations, and terminology so each project is accurate and compliant for Nigeria.
  • Replace NEC references with the correct citations from the Nigerian Electricity Supply and Installation Standards Regulations (NESIS) and the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) referenced therein, and align procedures with Nigerian standards and common field practice.
  • Provide SME technical guidance and feedback to BILT content designers throughout the localization cycle.
  • Participate in quality control review and sign off on each localized product.
  • Flag gaps, inaccuracies, or US-specific assumptions in the source content — materials, voltages, wiring conventions, tooling, and safety protocols — and advise on the correct local equivalent
  • Consult BILT with industry knowledge and participate in relevant strategy and business-plan conversations.
  • Store all documentation, drawings, videos, recordings, and transcripts in the designated shared folder and hand off deliverables per mutually agreed goals and timeline.s

What You Bring

  • Current NEMSA certification as electrical installation personnel/contractor (Category B or higher), or an equivalent recognized Nigerian credential (e.g., NABTEB or ITF trade certification, or COREN-registered engineering technician)
  • Approximately 5–10 years of hands-on electrical field experience in Nigeria
  • Working knowledge of the Nigerian Electricity Supply and Installation Standards Regulations (NESIS), the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), SON/NIS standards, and applicable local permitting and inspection practice
  • Ability to read US-based technical content and identify where it diverges from Nigerian code, materials, and field practice
  • Ability to explain complex procedures clearly to someone who has never seen the equipment before; strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Experience reviewing or creating technical documentation is a plus
  • Comfortable working remotely with a US-based team, in a fast-moving environment with evolving scope and tight timelines
  • Willingness to execute an NDA and to assign all work product to BILT as sole Intellectual Property
  • Teaching, training, or workforce development experience is a meaningful plus but not a requirement

What Success Looks Like

  • All nine (9) projects reviewed, localized, and signed off as accurate and compliant for Nigeria
  • Every NEC citation and US-specific procedure mapped to its correct Nigerian equivalent, with discrepancies documented
  • All documentation, drawings, videos, recordings, and transcripts delivered to the shared folder and handed off to B.ILT
  • A Nigerian technician can follow any localized project end to end without needing to translate US assumptions.ions

Compensation

The Localization SME will be compensated for actual hours worked. The scope above is estimated at approximately 40–45 hours. The parties intend to complete the work as efficiently as possible; fees will be billed at the agreed hourly rate for hours actually worked and approved. Compensation will be paid upon completion of the project. Compensation will be adequate for the going in-country rate. Currency and compensation rate will be confirmed at signing. Any material expansion of scope will be handled by a mutually agreed addendum to this SOW.

Work Environment

This is a remote contract engagement based in Nigeria, supporting BILT’s Global Brand Support Center in Grapevine, Texas. Work is performed primarily in a professional or home-office setting and coordinated with the BILT Education team across time zones. This role requires the use of standard office equipment including computers, tablets, phones, and communication platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.), and requires reliable internet access for shared-folder collaboration, screen sharing, and recorded review sessions. You will be required to download the free BILT app to review the 9 electrical projects. All content must be kept private and not shared with anyone outside this agreement.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the contractor to successfully perform the essential functions of this engagement. While performing duties, the contractor is regularly required to talk or hear. The contractor is frequently required to sit, stand, and use a computer. This role does not require live electrical work but may include review of field documentation and reference photography or video of installed conditions.

Other Duties

Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required for this engagement. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time.
