About Exotrail 🚀
Space is becoming more strategic and competitive than ever. Tomorrow’s space leaders will not simply launch satellites into orbit, they will be able to move them, reposition them, extend their lifetime, and maximize their performance in space.
Since 2017, Exotrail has been developing and operating cutting-edge in-space mobility solutions for commercial, institutional, and defense customers. From our high-performance propulsion system spaceware™ to our orbital transfer vehicle spacevan™, we enable satellites to go farther, stay operational longer, and achieve more.
Today, more than 200 Exotrailers across Massy and Toulouse are working together to make space operations more efficient and sustainable.
Backed by over €75 million in funding, we are pursuing a clear mission:
Making space a sustainable frontier for future generations. 🚀
Job Description
As part of our In-Orbit Services (IoS) division, we are looking for an Electronic & Electrical Architect to lead the design, development, and validation of the electrical architecture of our Spacevan platform.
You will play a key role in defining and ensuring the consistency of the satellite's electrical systems, from Electrical Power System (EPS) architecture to PCB design, harnessing, integration, and validation activities.
Electrical Architecture & EPS Design
Define the satellite Electrical Power System (EPS) architecture, including generation, storage, regulation, protection, and power distribution.
Define power and data interfaces, grounding schemes, and decoupling strategies.
Dimension and model power supplies, DC/DC converters, batteries, protections, and power distribution units.
Contribute to power budget analyses, including worst-case, safe mode, and redundancy scenarios.
Investigate non-conformances and drive corrective action plans related to electrical and EPS systems.
PCB & Harness Development
Design or supervise the design of electronic boards (schematics, component selection, routing, justification files).
Lead the development and validation of dedicated avionics boards such as EPS, PDU, or payload interface boards.
Define and document harness architectures, wiring diagrams, and electrical integration rules.
Ensure consistency between electrical equipment and overall system architecture.
Support root cause analyses and corrective actions on avionics hardware.
Supplier Management, Manufacturing & Testing
Prepare technical specifications for electrical and power equipment procurement.
Manage suppliers and subcontractors involved in PCB, harness, and electrical equipment manufacturing.
Follow manufacturing, verification, and acceptance activities.
Review ATP, FAT, qualification, and compliance reports.
Validate functional, thermal, and environmental testing campaigns.
System Integration & Validation
Define electrical integration and interface verification plans.
Support Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) activities, including power-on procedures and endurance campaigns.
Participate in environmental testing and electrical margin verification.
Ensure successful integration of payloads and third-party equipment from an electrical perspective.
Project Coordination & Work Package Leadership
Act as Work Package Leader (WPL) for electrical, EPS, and harness activities.
Define scope, schedule, milestones, budget, deliverables, and validation strategies.
Coordinate activities with System, Software, Propulsion, and AIT teams.
Contribute to major project reviews such as PDR, CDR, TRR, and TRB.
Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives across the organization.
