With domain knowledge across product and technology development, we aim to provide cost-efficient solutions without compromising quality. We are driven to deliver the best, every single time. Altamira service delivery teams currently span Slovakia, Ukraine, and the Middle East, and we have ambitions to expand our footprint to meet the growing demand across Europe and into our primary growth markets in the UK and the US. In terms of industry verticals, we are focused on EdTech, Fintech, eCommerce, and Pharma. We are looking for an Embedded Engineer to join a non-commercial, EU-funded research project focused on developing drone and robotic systems for reconnaissance and demining operations at sea. The project duration is 2 years, with extensive opportunities for hands-on prototyping, field testing, and real-world deployment. This role will suit enthusiastic engineers — not necessarily Senior-level — who are eager to learn, experiment, and take part in both software/hardware development and practical assembly & field testing of drones. Final-year university students with relevant experience are also welcome to apply. Requirements Experience in developing drone systems and robotic platforms from concept to implementation Knowledge of UAV/USV hardware, sensors, autopilot missions, and control algorithms (e.g., MAVLink, Ardupilot) Skills in prototyping and electronics troubleshooting, with the ability to solve problems on-site Understanding of wireless communication protocols and network solutions Technical leadership experience and teamwork skills Collaboration and communication with project stakeholders Attention to detail, practical approach, and focus on reliable results Understanding of AI/ML principles for perception and decision-making solutions Familiarity with navigation principles (GNSS, ToF, etc.) Fluent in Ukrainian (spoken and written) Responsibilities Develop software and hardware for UAV/USV systems from concept to working prototypes Assemble and test drones, participate in field training at test sites and military polygons Ensure perimeter demining and reconnaissance support using AI and drone technologies Troubleshoot and prototype electronics, ensuring robustness of systems in real-world conditions Collaborate with project beneficiaries and research partners Contribute to knowledge-sharing and support within the engineering team We respect your time and keep our process clear and human. From the first “hello” to the offer usually takes up to 2 weeks: A short recruiting call (30 min) A technical conversation with our experts (1 hour) Client interview (if needed, up to 1 hour) Reference check Offer and welcome on board * Please note that the process may occasionally vary depending on the role or specific project needs. Why join altamira.ai You get fair, competitive pay and real opportunities to grow. Fully remote - no commuting, no office constraints. We don’t do micromanagement - we do trust, ownership, and support. We provide all the tech equipment you need. 20 working days of paid vacation, paid sick leave, public holidays, and regular salary reviews. A flexible schedule to keep your work-life balance sane. Space to learn, experiment, and bring your ideas to life. We do believe that the success of altamira.ai is impossible without the success of our Talents and the success of our Clients! ❤️
