Job Description
This is a remote position.
As an Embedded Software Developer, you will develop and maintain embedded software for advanced and safety-critical systems. The role involves close collaboration with both software and hardware teams to ensure robust, reliable, and secure solutions in accordance with requirements-based development processes.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Design, development, and further enhancement of embedded software for various platforms and architectures.
- Programming well-structured, efficient, and documented code in accordance with DO-178.
- Integration of software with hardware in cooperation with hardware engineers.
- Participation in requirements analysis and traceability to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
- Testing, debugging, and verification of software to ensure function, performance, and reliability.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of requirements-based development processes.
- Active participation in an agile working methodology with sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Following technical developments within embedded development for safety-critical systems.
Qualifications Required
To be considered for the assignment, we see that you have:
- 3–12 years of experience in embedded development or a similar role.
- Experience in development for safety-critical systems.
- Very good proficiency in C and Python.
- Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Knowledge of DO-178 and requirements-based development processes.
- Experience with version control, preferably Git and/or Dimensions.
- Experience with agile development methods, such as Agile or Scrum.
- Good problem-solving skills and a high sense of quality and detail.
- Good collaboration and communication skills.
- Relevant higher education degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
Meritorious (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience with safety-critical software development within the aerospace, defense, or medical technology industries.
- Knowledge of security protocols and best practices for safety-critical systems.
- Experience with hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog.
- Experience with Embedded Linux or other embedded operating systems.
- Experience with model-based development, such as MATLAB/Simulink.
