“We’re setting out to reshape the future of tax advisory - one that’s better for clients, and better for advisers.”

WTS UK is a new non-audit tax advisory firm offering the full range of services to large and listed businesses.

We take a fresh approach to tax advisory - unafraid to offer bold perspectives on complex issues. We provide clear, actionable advice, demonstrating what’s possible when a firm is purpose-built for today’s environment.

Modern, focused, and powered by senior expertise, we embed AI into our ways of working to sharpen insight and enhance client service.

We are proud to be part of WTS, headquartered in Munich, and connected through WTS Global, a network spanning 100 countries. We combine international reach with entrepreneurial agility. This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in building a modern, conflict-free tax advisory firm – shaping workflows and working directly with senior leaders and high-profile clients in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
We are looking for an Employment Tax Senior Manager. This is a broad, client-facing role covering employment tax advisory and compliance, with meaningful exposure to transactions and to the wider tax practice.

You will bring strong employment tax expertise alongside a solid understanding of the employment tax risks that arise in a transaction context, and how they are identified, diligenced and reported, including IR35 and off-payroll working, overseas working, and benefits, PAYE and NIC issues.

Your work will span transactions and broader employment tax advisory and compliance, and you will work closely with colleagues across corporate tax, international tax, private client services, and other tax disciplines to deliver joined-up advice to clients.

As an Employment Tax Senior Manager, you will lead client engagements and play a key part in growing our client base.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acting as the technical lead for employment tax across a portfolio of client engagements, providing high-quality, practical advice
  • Advising large and multinational clients on UK employment tax matters, including PAYE, NIC, benefits and expenses, and termination payments
  • Advising on internationally mobile employees and overseas working risks, including the related tax and social security implications
  • Advising on IR35 / off-payroll working risk, including status determinations and status determination statements (SDS), contractor and supply chain governance, and the management of HMRC enquiries, risk mitigation, and remediation
  • Contributing to employment tax diligence on buy-side and sell-side transactions, identifying, assessing, and quantifying risks and exposures (IR35 and contractor engagement, overseas working, benefits, PAYE, and NIC) and translating findings into clear commercial points for deal teams and clients
  • Working alongside the wider transactions team on share purchase agreement (SPA) and warranty / indemnity discussions, and on post-deal integration and remediation
  • Working closely with colleagues in corporate tax, international tax, private client services, and other specialisms to deliver joined-up advice to clients
  • Running and growing a portfolio of client relationships, identifying opportunities, and expanding existing accounts
  • Managing engagement economics across your portfolio, including budgets, recovery rates, and WIP/billing recommendations
  • Collaborating with colleagues across jurisdictions within the WTS Global network on cross-border projects
  • Generating new opportunities and supporting proposals and pitches
  • Championing our technology-enabled ways of working, using AI and digital tools to enhance delivery
  • Building strong internal relationships and acting as a collaborative, influential voice within the firm
  • CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent professional qualification – or qualified by experience
  • Substantial UK employment tax experience, gained in practice or industry
  • Strong technical knowledge of PAYE, NIC, benefits, IR35 / off-payroll working, and the tax treatment of internationally mobile employees
  • Practical experience of IR35 status assessments, contractor governance, and managing related HMRC enquiries
  • Exposure to transactions, with a good understanding of how employment tax risks, including IR35 and contractor exposures, are identified, diligenced and reported, even if transactions have not been your main focus
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, practical advice
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing engagement economics, client relationships, and developing Managers and junior team members
  • A collaborative, influential mindset aligned with our culture
  • Work in a bureaucracy-free, pure advisory environment
  • Build something new in a high-growth firm
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and complex client work
  • A culture built on collaboration, not hierarchy
  • Flexibility to shape your career path

If you’re looking for a different kind of tax advisory firm - one focused on clarity, impact, and collaboration — we’d love to hear from you.
