Position Summary

AES is transforming into a customer-first, digitally focused clean energy provider. The Energy Services Analyst supports this transformation by helping administer the Electric Choice program, providing accurate supplier and customer support, producing timely analysis and reporting, strengthening business processes and controls, and improving the systems used to manage program activity. The role collaborates across internal teams and with external stakeholders to resolve issues, maintain reliable information, and deliver a consistent program experience.

Responsibilities

Electric Choice Program Support

  • Support day-to-day administration of the Electric Choice program, including supplier enrollment, account activity, inquiries, and issue resolution.
  • Research supplier and customer transactions, identify exceptions, and coordinate corrections in accordance with program rules and service expectations.
  • Maintain accurate program records, procedures, and supporting documentation.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports on supplier activity, customer participation, exceptions, and operational performance.
  • Validate data, investigate variances, and communicate clear findings and recommended actions.
  • Track trends and performance indicators to support decisions and continuous improvement.

Business Process & Systems Support

  • Document, monitor, and improve business processes, controls, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support testing, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of systems and digital tools used by the program.
  • Partner with technology and operations teams to define requirements, troubleshoot defects, and confirm solutions meet business needs.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a responsive point of contact for suppliers and internal partners regarding program processes, data, and operational issues.
  • Coordinate across Customer Operations, Regulatory, Billing, Legal, Finance, and Technology teams to resolve issues and deliver commitments.
  • Communicate status, risks, decisions, and process changes clearly to appropriate stakeholders.

Education / Experience (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, information systems, economics, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in utility operations, energy services, customer programs, business analysis, reporting, or a comparable analytical role.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, reconcile discrepancies, manage details, and produce accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functional teams and with external partners.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard business productivity tools.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of competitive retail electric markets, supplier operations, Electric Choice programs, or utility billing and enrollment processes.
  • Experience with data visualization, reporting platforms, databases, SQL, automation, or other digital analytics tools.
  • Experience gathering business requirements, performing user acceptance testing, and supporting system implementations or enhancements.
  • Familiarity with utility regulatory requirements, compliance reporting, tariffs, market rules, or external regulatory filings.
  • Strong problem-solving, process-improvement, project coordination, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining a customer-first mindset and strong attention to detail.

Success Metrics

  • Accurate, responsive supplier and customer support with issues resolved or routed within service expectations.
  • Complete, timely, and decision-ready recurring and ad hoc reporting.
  • Effective process controls, accurate documentation, and reduced operational exceptions or rework.
  • Successful system improvements that increase reliability, efficiency, data quality, or user experience.
  • Consistent, collaborative stakeholder support and clear communication of status, risks, and outcomes.
