Position Summary
The Desktop Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, management, security, and support of enterprise workstation environments. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and security of desktop and laptop systems across the organization while supporting end-user productivity and technology initiatives. The Workstation Engineer works closely with the Service Desk, Security and Business teams to deliver a standardized and efficient computing experience.
Location: St. Louis, MO (hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain workstation standards, policies, and lifecycle processes.
- Deploy, configure, and manage Windows and macOS workstations.
- Create and maintain operating system images and automated deployment solutions.
- Manage endpoint configuration and compliance using tools such as Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Administer workstation security controls, including antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), encryption, and patch management.
- Monitor workstation health, performance, and compliance across the enterprise.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell and other automation scripts to streamline workstation administration tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, operating system, and application issues.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to remediate vulnerabilities and support security initiatives.
- Test and deploy workstation hardware, drivers, operating system updates, and software packages.
- Support hardware lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Create technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Participate in project planning and execution related to endpoint technologies and digital workplace initiatives.
- Provide Tier 3 support and technical escalation assistance to the Service Desk and Desktop Support teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience supporting and engineering enterprise workstation environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 operating systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Active Directory.
- Knowledge of workstation imaging, deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Understanding of endpoint security technologies, patch management, and compliance requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting macOS environments.
- Microsoft certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
- Azure Administrator Associate
- Experience with enterprise asset management and endpoint analytics tools.
